Dying to know : My Musings

Dying to know | Daily Updates
Daily Updates

Might it be the devil at work or mere intellect that it recently occurred to me what people always are dying to know. Anyone with an itch for latest gossip either is dying to know what's up just as much as your last seven boyfriends are dying to know which of them is not the father.
You are equally dying to know where I'm heading with my most current expose' . Be troubled not, for I suspect this sudden willingness to embrace death for a course trivial as knowledge is not a 21st century awakening. In fact I suspect it's earliest user and probably creator is Shakespeare.
In his tragedy Romeo and Juliet.
I faintly recalled recently of the plot to imbue Juliet with a mild poison of which she may be woken from by her suitor. Sounds a lot but just hold on, its not as complicated as your life.
Romeo shows up at the graveyard i dare impose only to find dearly beloved so far gone by the poison much that he has an impulse to know if or not she actually is dead. Not knowing and wanting to know if she is dead, our knight decides upon an experiment and imbibes the remaining cocktail of poison thus rushing to his death.
Therefore, it seems very obvious that Romeo died to know if Juliet either was dead or not hence the catchphrase, dying to know.

Adam and Eve The Last Question : My Musings

Adam and Eve: The Last Question | Daily Updates
Daily Updates

Adam and Eve, the curtain raiser to what quickly degenerates into humanity. As the narrative goes, the duo finally ate the fruit within which consciousness lay and failed us all.
Still very few look at this from a broader angle, what if they had eaten the whole fruit instead of the proverbial bite they took, would they have acquired a greater understanding and maybe fast forwarded  civilization many millennia? What if they had kept eating and woke up with 100% brain function, wasn't it the alpha of fruits after all.

We have it served to us of how the nakedness shocked them after indulging the fruit, so we do know they weren't cold or burned in the sun and neither were they embarrassed. This leads us to suggest the betrayal or rather the fruit flipped the switch in the duo, they woke up from a false reality into a truth so vivid they couldn't let go of the falsehoods.
Lost in it all they couldn't discern where one ended and the other began, attribute this to the later interaction with mates from the garden. Man went bonkers on the beasts. Wait
Did the beasts from the garden follow man when he got kicked out? In case they didn't is it laughable to presume man might have enticed them with some of the same fruit. Is that why some animals act way humanely than fellow animals,
From the point of which it all fell apart, too many possibilities have kept many awake most nights but of certainty is how all questions attract a certain degree of scripture says.
Everyone loves scripture says except when scripture was not strong armed into saying.

For Becky : My Musings

For Becky |Daily Updates

Rain that falls past 1900 hours always had a special place in my upbringing, it meant a license to roll up in the blanket, find Becky where I last left her, in the dimly lit room at the core of my mind and play all through the downpour. For quite sometime I enjoyed our meetings, trysts and the occasional hand holding, then it happened to occur that maybe if I exerted myself properly I'd meet Becky in the flesh.
So I walked into the library and saw her, fine face, shimmering skin, troubled stares. He came and took her away before I could say my name. I ran after her, took her arm and body from him in my head while entirely dumbstruck like the day I asked another to come see me on stage and I couldn't stop trembling or the day I had her by my side and couldn't get my eyes off of the floor. In all my minor failings I didn't quit, still every rainy hour I thought of Becky and the joy she'd find in my eyes. How perhaps she was sullied in another room, across the road perhaps or closer than I thought.
The online front in my quest for Becky got dark and messy very quickly, first I met Maria who insisted she survived the Chechen war and couldn't find love in Ukraine. I held her aged face in my heart and prayed to meet her, Maria asked me for plane tickets to come to me. Maria never emailed again. Winnie had a prominent forehead, Judith was only female by genitalia, I assumed for I never got to find out. Chantell loved her lovers feminine and tender, Lavender parted for the whiskey and well dressed boys. Terry was with child.
Yvonne was closer, 200km away she laughed and aaaw'd at my sentiment so sincerely I thought to go find her, I mentioned it to her and asked she show me her magnificent face, apparently I am of higher value in bride price than 200 artistic impressions of her face
Now it would be madness to proceed in this endeavor given all the screaming red lights.
I tried!!! Mama knows, everyone knows. therefore, I took matters into violently resolving my misfortunes that someday after cursing my luck I had a dream, she came to me in a familiar face and stirred my loins in sleep.
Today I still seek her face in the crowds, with nothing but a most sober recollection of her feet. They that gently lay on my lap as we played in the dark core of my mind. I will find her.

Just Friends : My Musings

Just Friends | Daily Updates

Recently I attempted cutting loose a relationship that was driving me into the firm ground in ways that'd shame the best pile drivers of WWE, it was what relationship experts call toxic.
Naturally it was the hardest to do owing the fact maybe if I waited longer she would give in and by ending it I may have forfeited the opportunity. I saw my intention through and I recall being mildly insulted. As the experts would deduce, there's something I took from the whole encounter.
I was being used by her and many of her species to fill the gaping holes left by lesser men of earlier days. See there's an art in friendship and if well done perversions as the friendzone hardly would make the list. If one goes seeking romance and affection either finds it or doesn't. Except that currently a new option is given, let's just be friends.
No! We cannot just be friends, either we are the textbook definition of soap opera romance or we stay strangers who meet in a public lavatory. And if another goes seeking just a friend, to mock and banter with but eventually meets affection, so be it. Not to digress, this is about the just friends.
The woman will just friend you and have her pelvis parted in obscene angles at wicked hours of the day in all the wrong locations. Obviously not by you. Nooo! You are damage control, she comes to you when the lust dies and the guilt defiled  Sunday school teachings won't let her say the apostles creed in one flow. She runs to you for absolution.
This is the singular most evil deed of the fair species, apart from the vengeance thing. Anyway, I tired of it and decided to cold turkey these women. The way they came to me torn and worthless had me wonder why they never learn after the first, second or sixth experience. Helen of Troy said to Hermione that whoever pursued their passions and desires must be ready not just to meet the consequences, but to do so without resisting, in that basket I lay all my hopes.
Morose from having to cloak their lust and promiscuity in my virginity, it dawned on me how behind my back they laugh amongst themselves at me and my gullibility so with that final message I avenged myself or hoped they'd not come seeking to make confessions.

Is Robert Alai Now Raila Odinga's Biggest Enemy?

Robert Alai Is Now Raila Odinga's Biggest Enemy
Robert Alai

Robert Alai was Raila's biggest voice online. A blog believed to be his, Kahawa Tungu was dedicated to supporting the man. He highlighted the former prime minister's achievements and exposed his enemies' shortcomings. On Twitter you couldn't portray Raila Odinga in bad light without rubbing Alai the wrong way. He was openly pro-ODM and strongly defended it during the grand coalition government.
Also

The blogger has been in court several times for defamation  suits. These lawsuits were by extension the bullet wounds sustained from defending Raila and his party. He was wounded in the line of active duty. He was relentless and he pressed on and on. There was no stopping in sight for Kenya's blogging pioneer. In fact, he was only rivaled by his friend, Dennis Ole Itumbi who found a job in statehouse. The two fiercely fought, albeit in opposite directions, for the political leaders they believed in.

Things are no longer the same. The man has turned out to be Raila's harshest critic. His guns have been turned to the old man's face. Robert Alai now grabs every tiny opportunity to attack the 2017 presidential candidate.
Robert Alai Is Now Raila Odinga's Biggest Enemy
Alai In Statehouse

If it is not Raila's age he is blasting, he is talking about the man's daughter being unable to sustain the political heat in Kibra and thus the brain tumor she is battling. He also regularly talks of Raila's dictatorial approach to leadership.
And now he has a conspiracy theory.
Robert Alai Onyango has sensationally claimed that Raila is a career politician who is only in politics for the business side of it. According to him, it has never been Raila's intention to become president. He contests for the sake of getting campaign donations, nomination fees from those wishing to get ODM certificates and pushing his business interests.
Many have had different explanations for his change of heart. Robert has previously complained of being neglected by Raila and his allies like James Orengo at his time of need, especially during court processes. He found it hard to still like the man after being forced to pay his own bail and lawyers yet he was defending him!

Alai had expressed interest in running for Embakasi East parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket. He was on track and had even started campaigning. But from nowhere came Babu Owino who hit the road hard campaigning in every part of Embakasi East. Babu seems to have the ear of Raila Odinga who even endorsed him during a public rally. This really irked Robert Alai who must now chart his own political path.

Many are eager to see where Robert Alai's online tirades will lead him to.

Here's Why You Need To Dump Your Smartphone For The New Nokia 3310!

Here's Why You Need To Dump Your Smartphone For The New Nokia 3310!
Bloomberg/Getty Images

It's time to go back to your roots! If you were born before the 21st century then your first phone, or at least your the phone your parents first owned was the legendary Nokia 3310. It was a cool phone. Sophisticated even. The design, at that time, was one to die for. People loved to dress the phone with thick covers that were suspended from the belt.
And who can forget the snake game? Epic!
But then a dark wave passed over Nokia 3310. First in the form of better peers. Thinner phones, with brighter colors and more games to play. People moved on, first slowly, then in a hurry. It became a shame to carry the phone. A parent wouldn't be forgiven for showing up with the Nokia 3310 during the visiting day in school. The final blow was the emergence of the smartphone.
Who would have seen coming the turn of events? The old phone is back like it never left. This time it is promising to stay. And no, the snake game did not die during the hiatus. It is back, only this time colored.
Here's Why You Need To Dump Your Smartphone For The New Nokia 3310!
Nokia 3310

One wonders why I would recommend that you dump your smartphone for the Nokia 3310. The phone's battery can last for up to a month on standby mode! Believe it or not, the phone will last for a whole day when being actively used. So for the farmers, long distance drivers, the traders in the streets, and many other Kenyans that are always on the move, this is a handy tool.
One major improvement we never saw coming is the introduction of a memory card slot that can accommodate up to 32GB. This is the entire database of Mdundo!

The phone has 2G connectivity with no internet connection. That means your Whatsapp picture stays the same (if you had Whatsapp before migrating) and your Facebook status won't be updated. Don't even bring up Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. But let it not escape you that we are in the business of saving that bundles money.
The mobile phone's website places its price at a whooping 49 pounds. Kenyans, this pretty much waters down everything I have said above.

Launch Of Kenyan Government Newspaper A Big Blow To The Print Media

Launch Of Government A Big Blow To The Print Media.
Daily Updates
The government, on 8th of February established a government newspaper my.gov. This was quickly followed by the government banning all forms of advertisements by the government on private print media. This includes job adverts, tenders and special announcements.
Government accounting officers who choose to defy this order will have to bear the costs of advertising on private print media that they decide  to use. They were given these instructions by the president's Chief of Staff and Head of Civil Service Joseph in a secret memo, Daily Nation has claimed.
The government newspaper will be circulated through The Star and People Daily. People Daily is a free of charge circulated newspaper that depends on ads for revenue. It is owned by the Mediamax Network Limited which also owns K24, Kameme Fm, Milele Fm, Pilipili Fm, Meru Fm and Mayian Fm.

The government aims to reduce the cost of providing services to the public. Reducing the amount of money spent on ads will improve the quality of services being advertised.
This move comes at a wrong time for the print media that is fighting a myriad of challenges it faces. Technological advancements in the country are a big blow as people shift their focus to digitial media. Advertisers are already positioning themselves for the new frontier. Many firms are investing heavily in online marketing and production of digital content. This migration left the print media with a few advertisers and the government. The exit of government revenue could be the last nail in this coffin.
Already there are rumors circulating around that The Star could be wrapping up after failing to keep up with low sales, a high wage bill and a staggering competition from the country's main newspapers, Nation and The Standard. Nation Media Group which owns The Nation, was forced to shut down most of its radio stations in the recent past. They have since shifted their focus to the digital atmosphere.

The Kenyan Government Is Spying On You? Here's How To Stay Safe

Daily Updates
Daily Updates

In the recent weeks, news in the mainstream media has revealed an elaborate plan by the Kenyan government through the Communications Authority of Kenya to spy on the every Kenyan with a phone. The government has denied these claims putting the blame on the telecommunication companies for misleading the public.
The government has insisted that the Device Management System it plans to implement is aimed at purging the counterfeit devices that have flooded the Kenyan market. The counterfeit devices make it hard to track criminals and their illegal activities. The implementation, they claim, will also curb device theft as any stolen device is denied services thus rendering it useless. The government will also reduce revenue loss as a result.
The leak of these plans, was without a doubt, leaked to the public by the telecommunication companies who the government had approached for the provision of subscribers' information. What remains sketchy is the goal the companies meant to achieve by this this leak. It could be genuine concerns about the security and privacy rights infringement of their users by the government. Others have said they were aiming to protect their business interests.
Is the government genuine in their fight against crime? Is the government honest about its plans? This program naturally looks suspicious in the eyes of the public, especially because of its timing. The country has only a few months left before the general elections are here.
The Kenyan Government Is Spying On You: Here's How To Stay Safe
Mr. Francis W. Wangusi, Director General of CA.

We have witnessed a global trend where governments are becoming increasingly mistrusting of their citizens and hence launching secret monitoring of devices in the disguise of fighting terrorism, drugs and human trafficking, organized crime among many other things.
Terrorism and crime are detrimental to development, and in most cases threaten human life. War against such vices is good for anyone conscious about peace and development. But at no point should anyone not involved with any of these vices be involved in the war. The blanket monitoring of citizens.
Also, Is Churchill Show Dying A Slow Death?
It is not a secret that governments are now actively monitoring their citizens without their direct consent. If it is not your government, it is another government that your government is involved with, in a good or bad way. You just have to look at the recent developments revolving around Edward Snowden and the Russian hack. Your government is no different. Ever asked yourself how they got your number, and name in the notification messages? People were receiving messages from their area chiefs reminding them to vote. People who had never sought the services of a chief before!
Monitoring of your personal devices by anyone, let alone the government, is downright creepy. The thought of someone knowing who you talk to, your financial transactions, your movements, people you hang out with and many other things that touch the core of life, sometimes intimate even, should scare you.

You should take safety precautions to ensure that the government doesn't take from you what have no legal backing to take. Use of encrypted messaging service providers like Whatsapp are a sure first step to protecting yourself. Taking time to scan your laptop of viruses and malware. Most of these spyware are identified and singled out by reputable anti-viruses like Kaspersky.

Is The Churchill Show Dying A Slow Death?

Is The Churchill Show Dying A Slow Death?
Churchill Show

Daniel "Churchill" Ndambuki is without a doubt the father of comedy in Kenya. The man is a legend with nine lives who has managed to evolve over the years at no time losing appeal to his audience. His rise to fame has been an upward curve. A likeable man, rarely finding himself in the scandals, he has grown to be a force to be reckoned with internationally. He was even featured on CNN's African Voices. And Kenyans believe in him. He is the most influential Kenyan comedian in the internet. His YouTube channel has more than 45 million views, his Facebook page has more than 2 million likes, his Twitter account has 150 thousand follower. He also has 132 thousand Instagram followers. These numbers speak volumes about his influence.
Is the churchill show dying a slow death?
Churchill the man

But not all Kenyans believe in him. Biko Zulu launched a scathing attack on his show and his comedians saying Churchill was funny when he was still hungry.
Churchill was only funny when he was hungry.
Awuor Arunga in a YouTube interview blasted him saying he is not even funny. The accomplished jazz trumpeter had no kind words for East Africa's biggest comedy show.

The Churchill Show has also on the receiving end of people that dislike tribal jokes. Most of the comedians in the outfit flourish in tribal jokes. Chipukeezy and Njoro use Kamba and Kikuyu accents respectively in their performances. They are not the only ones. It is a long list.
But Churchill Show could be dying. And it is not the tribal jokes or discovery of wealth or criticism that is killing the show. There is a new crop of comedians that have taken the industry by storm. And no, they are not in your favorite television channel at prime time. They don't have a production team with professional photographers, writers and producers. They come raw, on social media. Meet the new age of comedy in Kenya.
Every Kenyan on Instagram knows Seth Gor. A student at the University of Nairobi. He is funny. Extremely funny. He is a Viner, and a very good one at that. His parody of the #SaltBae video made continental headlines (he was featured in a Congolese news website). Most of his Vine videos on Instagram have more than 10 thousand views. And the captions are even funnier.

These videos are attracting large crowds. He has recently been on a media tour. Together with other friends, they have started a productions company, Vineyard Productions. And companies are coming in. A quick look at his Instagram shows ads from big firms like Safaricom.

Another fast rising comedian is Dr King'ori of The Wicked Edition. His show is based on the concept of late night shows in the US where shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon have thrived. The Wicked Edition is an issue based show looking at the current events with a comical twist. It has received positive feedback albeit started only recently.

The group, Propessa, has also left the nation in stitches every time they upload a video on Facebook. The group of four has recently claim they don't edit their videos. Their camera of choice is a phone camera. The list goes on and on.
Are the fortunes tilting towards the new crop of comedians? It is only a matter of time before we all find out. Kenyans, as is known all over the world, move on very fast. When Nokia was acquired by Microsoft, the CEO of Nokia was tearful during the press conference of acquisition saying,
We didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost.

Kisumu Gubernatorial Race: Will Professor Anyang' Nyong'o Unseat Jack Ranguma?

Anyang' Nyong'o And Jack Ranguma

It is prudent for you to know, before anything else, that this race will be a two-horse one. It is only a matter of time before the current deputy governor Ruth Odinga, World Food Program Country Yemen Director Dr Asaka Nyangara, Dr Hezron McObewa and others are consumed in the political heat that will hover around Kisumu in the coming months. The political heat will come in the form of boardroom deals, negotiated democracy, personal reevaluations, and downright intimidation (Western Kenya politics is arguably the dirtiest in the country).

Nyong'o and Ranguma at a past event
That said, the Kisumu gubernatorial race will pit the incumbent governor Jack Ranguma against the incumbent senator Professor Anyang' Nyong'o. The two friends turned bitter rivals have promised the electorate an epic battle that will leave no stones unturned. The senator supported the governor in the 2013 elections but has since said he regrets vouching for a man who has led the great county of Kisumu to the trenches. The governor on the other side has advised the senator to retire from politics citing old age. Their age difference is 10 years.
All the contenders in Kisumu are highly educated people. Professor Anyang' Nyong'o as the name suggests is an accomplished educator who cut his teeth in overseas universities. He still lectures at the University of Nairobi and has been a visiting professor in universities in Mexico and Addis Ababa before. He was also a Brundtland Senior Leadership Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Jack Ranguma is also as learned as he has a Master of Science (International Accounting and Management Information Systems) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He had an accounting career spanning over 30 years before venturing into politics. He served as a commissioner in Kenya Revenue Authority. Education background will definitely not play a major part in this race.
One factor that will greatly influence the outcome is their home turfs. Kisumu voters, like other parts of the country, vote as a block. Ranguma comes from the vote rich Kano clan that comprises of Nyando, Muhoroni and Kisumu East. Nyong'o is of the Seme clan of Seme sub-county. The other clans, Kisumo and Nyakach will align themselves depending on each clan's proximity to the rivals. Kisumu Central will be a battleground as it is a cosmopolitan.

Nyong'o during a vote drive in Seme

Raila Odinga the defacto leader of Nyanza will be perhaps the greatest determinant of the polls outcome. This will especially be inflated should he decide to endorse a candidate. Sources close to his inner circle say he may decide to stay neutral until after party nominations.

Anyang' Nyong'o is close to power
Past development records will be highly considered by the Kisumu elite as a key point. Ranguma who has accused his rival of not having a past development record terming him as backward will be relying on his projects in the county. He also has the money machine having been a governor for five years. Political pundits have said unseating an incumbent governor will be an uphill task. Nyong'o will rely on his development records during his stint as Kisumu Rural member of parliament. He will also make known his push for development of Kisumu in the Senate.

Nyong'o and his development record

The choice of a running mate will be of key importance. Outsiders who vote in Kisumu will be keen to choose someone they feel will have them close to the heart. The two contestants will be doing political calculations on how to choose someone who will bring votes to the table. At the end of the day, ODM party may enforce a running mate on a contender like they did with Ruth Odinga.
Above everything, this is an exciting race that everyone across the country will be watching. But make no mistake, the governor of Kisumu will be chosen the date of Orange Democratic Movement nominations.
