Kenyans Celebrate The Cop Who Executed Two Men Accused Of Being Armed Thugs

After the much publicized killing of two seemingly young men by a plain cloth police officer in Eastleigh, Nairobi, Kenyans took to social media to express their thoughts. Some people like lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi also known as the grand mullah condemned the killings terming it extrajudicial killings.

Former chief justice Dr Willy Mutunga stressed the need for police officer to consider the fact that criminals have constitutional rights that should not be violated. He was responding to a suggestion by another tweep that the police lack trust in the judiciary and do not spare criminals for fear of them being released by a broken judicial system.
 Even if it's true he had constitutional rights that were violated. Are we saying suspected criminals have no rights?
The Kenyan government has been accused, for a long time now, of masterminding extrajudicial killings when dealing with criminal gangs, terrorism among other issues related, or not necessarily, to peace and security.


But not all agree with the former chief justice and the senior counsel. Many Kenyans especially of the middle class group have expressed their satisfaction with what the cop did and have even suggested that he be transferred to their areas of residence to curb the wave of violent crime.
It all started with a tweet from a handle known as @insecurityke whose Twitter biography is injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. They posted the picture of the said flying squad office and gave out his identity as Ahmed Rashid. Many were not pleased by their decision to reveal the identity of the cop considering the fact that it could endanger his life in the line of duty.

Majority of the comments in the tweet revealed a happy lot. Some called him a hero while others expressed their intention to send him monetary rewards. Here are the Twitter reactions.

Lights Out For TV Presenter Janet Kanini Ikua

Today, Kenya fell into a dark oblivion as one of its most prolific journalists passed on after a well fought battle with cancer. Her seemingly never ending smile is no more. She breathed her last the morning of 1st April. She was diagnosed with lung cancer and had been in and out of hospital before finally being declared cancer free.
Janet Kanini Ikua spent her last days sensitizing the public on cancer through her social media accounts and collaborations with various cancer outreach groups. The mother of two will dearly be missed by many of her fans, family and friends. She was the host of N-soko property show before embarking on her treatment program. I was personally a great fan of the show and her departure is definitely a big loss.
Many Kenyans took to social media to express their shock and sadness over the untimely death of journalist. She is an alumni of Kenyatta University where she met her husband and was a member of the traveling theater club.
One of her most memorable quotes was she telling all the victims and survivors of cancer to never let the disease still their joy. She was strong in sickness and will forever remain an inspiration to all.
Even when you don't get a miracle you can be a miracle. Prepare yourself for the Kingdom and inspire others. Don't let cancer steal your joy.

Did President Uhuru Graduate From College? Here's The Evidence!

In this era of fake academic papers and forged examinations results, many Kenyans have been wondering whether their president really graduated from college or used the influence his family had in world politics to get a college degree. It is in the public domain that he graduated from Amherst College in the United States.
A Kenyan on Twitter took to the Twitter handle of the said college to ask them to confirm whether Uhuru Kenyatta was a student of theirs or not. He had earlier on written an email to them as a concerned Kenyan seeking clarification. They were kind enough to reply saying Uhuru graduated from the college in 1985. Thereafter, they referred him to their public photos.

Shocking! An Abortion Takes Place Every 2 Days In Pwani University!

A recent revelation that an abortion takes place in Pwani University every 2 to 3 days has sent shock waves across the country. The abortions procured by female students take place in a clinic near the school. The clinic is famously known in the school circles even though a school administrator declined to mention its name.
The chairman of the university's department of health, Dr Osman Abdhullahi, decried the rising cases of abortions that has rocked the institution. He said a doctor who resigned from the county government and is now on private practice has documented a huge number of students who stream to his clinic to request for abortion services. He was speaking during the validation of a qualitative research on teen pregnancies. He asked the relevant parties to intervene.

The research conducted by John Njoka between November and December of 2016 named Magarini, Mtwapa and Ganze as teen pregnancy hot spots in Kilifi county. John Njoka is a research fellow from the Institute off Development Studies at the University of Nairobi.
An explanation for the rise could be the lecturers' strike that hit public universities at the beginning of this academic year. The idleness that it brought as a result came with its own package of activities.

Esther Passaris Quits The Nairobi Gubernatorial Race

Adopt A Light Chief Executive Esther Passaris has finally quit the race to unseat Nairobi governor Evans Kidero. This move has been seen as long overdue by people who had no faith in her bid right from the beginning. The lady cited her bid becoming unrealistic over time as her reason for the decision to quit the race.
She has asked her followers on Twitter for advice on which seat to go for even as deadlines for submission of nomination papers for the majority of the parties in the country expire every other day. She claims many parties are courting her to join their camps. This, again, is seen by many as a strategy to increase the spotlight on her political clout.
Esther Passaris' decision to quit the race is wise considering the prevailing circumstances in the race. Kidero has the money machine provided to him by his incumbency. Mike Sonko is backed by his appeal to the lower class while Peter Kenneth enjoys a warm relationship with State House and many others who are close to power. She was headed for a plunge, a self-inflicted plunge that no one would have saved her from.
The lady's bid was marred with a myriad of challenges and there was possibly no chance she would make it to the ballot. Depending on Twitter polls that allow anyone to participate, whether you are underage or possess no voters' card, she launched her bid to clinch the most sought-after seat after the presidency.
Also,
A debate she had with Miguna Miguna did not do her any favours either. Miguna Miguna tore into her character, at one time calling her a prostitute and a socialite bimbo. He even claimed Esther slept with influential politicians to advance her political career. Even though Miguna was highly criticized and the show even cancelled, the damage had already been done.
The final blow on Esther's bid was delivered by the rejection of her party's registration by the registrar of parties. Esther sought to register Harambee party, a name popularly associated with the country's motto. Esther Passaris is now thrice unlucky in politics having lost to Ferdinand Waititu in the Embakasi by-elections, Rachel Shebesh in the Nairobi Women Representative race and now this. Many candidates have hit the campaign trail running and it is unlikely she will find her footing anywhere.
Esther Passaris is known to be a one issue candidate often seen and heard in public speaking about how she lit up Nairobi streets. Many find it hard to believe that she has enough courage to brag about a tender from which she profited and was in way of charity.
 It is no secret that the county race will be between Evans Kidero and the Jubilee party's candidate. Any other person in the race will drop out soon or wait to face a humiliating defeat come August the 8th. Many will drop out as the race takes shape.
