Here's The Truth About Mwai Kibaki's State Of Health

Social Media is filled with rumors that former president Mwai Kibaki and former powerful attorney general Charles Njonjo are seriously ailing and bed ridden in hospital. These rumors are probably fueled by the fact that death seems to be on a purge with almost half a dozen prominent leaders dying in the same time frame.
It started with GG Kariuki, followed by Joseph Nkaissery, Nicholas Biwott and now Bethuel Kiplagat.
While the whereabouts and state of health of Charles Njonjo can only be speculated due to his secretive and out-of-the-limelight nature, Mwai Kibaki has been in hospital outside the country and inside too.

But the truth of the matter is the third president of Kenya is alive and well, if his spokesperson's statement is anything to go by. Ngare Gituku took to Twitter to allay fears about Kibaki's health saying he is alive and well.

The Eulogy Of Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat: Yeah, He Is Dead

Just days after GG Kariuki, Joseph Nkaissery and Nicholas Biwott passed away, another prominent Kenyan has exited the stage. Former chairman of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat died at 3 a.m in Nairobi Hospital after battling a long illness. Ironically, with the death toll rising with each passing day Bethuel Kiplagat happened to meet his death in the Nairobi hospital just like other prominent leaders like GG Kariuki  and Nicholas Biwott.

The late Bethuel Kiplagat has nevertheless served his country where he has been a career diplomat serving as the Permanent secretary of foreign affairs and appointed as the special envoy in the Somalia peace talks. He has also served as a vice chancellor in Egerton University.

The TJRC report which he prepared after a period of public hearings and investigations was handed over to the government and the opposition leader Raila Odinga has been pushing for its implementation. The report seeks to address historical injustices that occurred in the past against some individuals and communities especially in the North Eastern part of the country.

Here Are The Churches Making Billions In Kenya

Churches in Kenya are now not only in the business of winning souls for Christ but are actively involved in profit making businesses. There is a shift being witnessed in the religious field with churches making heavy taxable investments in real estate, hospitality and farming among others. It is no longer over publicized visits to children's homes and exaggerated cries for donor funds.

Teresiah Wairimu for instance recently caused a stir in the media when she launched her multi billion church in Karen which looks like a cinema hall or an auditorium in some Ivy league university. The president attended that event. Nairobi Pentecostal Church also has its investments in the real estate. There was drama when some church members sued the leadership over a development project in Karen.

Kenya Revenue Authority has released a list of companies whose annual revenue turnover is between 300 million and 1 billion. Three churches have made it to the list.
The Coptic Orthodox church, Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) and Seventh-day Adventist Church are among the "Fortune" companies in Kenya that have hit the one billion mark. Surprisingly, churches like the Catholic Church which manages and owns vast wealth in real estate, health and education sectors are not in the list. There was a tussle between the State and churches over taxation with the churches wanting to be exempted from taxation. But in this world only two things are inevitable: death and taxes.

Total Man Nicholas Biwott Is Dead

Kenya is mourning yet another death as a former powerful minister in Moi's cabinet dies. Nicholas Biwott commonly known in power circles as Total Man died on Tuesday after a long illness. His family made the announcement today saying his body had been moved to Lee Funeral Home. This is coming a few days after Joseph Nkaissery died of a heart attack in his Karen home.

Mr Biwott was an mp for more than 20 years in the post Jommo Kenyatta error serving Keiyo South constituency until 2007 when he was dealt a humiliating defeat by an ODM MP. At the time of his death, Biwott and other Moi era politicians had lost influence in Kenya politics and was struggling even in his own backyard in the rift valley where Ruto is spreading his wings in ways only whispered about by the common man.

It is no secret that Biwott was a powerful man. So powerful was he that his orders were deemed to be directly from the president, whether true or not. With power comes wealth, and his was so vast it is rumored he has a home, somewhere in the rift valley, whose accessibility is only by air. He also has a ranch in Australia among other business interests.
Biwott had limited his public appearances in the recent past only last seen when his party was endorsing Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term.
Total Man has also been linked to many scandals and unfortunate events that occured during Moi's tenure. Controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi took to Twitter to wonder why Biwott was trending on Twitter suggesting he had been arrested for the murder of Robert Ouko.
