In a great shocker, the police has issued a statement claiming the deputy president's Sugoi home was attacked by a machete yielding man and not armed gunmen as earlier claimed by the mainstream media. In a a statement allegedly dispatched to major media houses in the country and now being circulated on social media, the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has also stated that neither the deputy president nor any member of his family was in the home when the attack occurred. An unknown number of gunmen have attacked the home of deputy president William Ruto in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu. Daily Updates can report that the deputy president is safe and on the Jubilee campaign trail. He left the home three hours before the attacked occurred. He has not mentioned the attack in his speeches in the campaigns.
It is said that a number of assailants approached the gate manned by a police officer and when stopped, they said they were selling some merchandise. They then grabbed the gun the General Service Unit officer's gun and hit him with it therefore immobilizing him.
They then stormed the home and gunshots were heard from the home for the better part of 2pm and 3pm. Members of the elite police unit, Recce Squad, have since been deployed to the home which is now surrounded.
The deputy president is expected to address a rally in Nairagie Enkare in Narok County. So far, only the GSU officer is the only known injured case from the incident. International media outlets have picked up on the story that is now developing.

As the end of political campaigns draws near, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked his supporters to ensure a huge turnout today to ensure he wins in the first round.
Ekuru Aukot, Cyrus Jirongo, Japheth Kavinga, Joe Nyagah, Michael Wainaina, and Solomon Gichira are the other candidates in the presidential race that it is a clear two horse race between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Athiru Ruujene, Meru county, he said that on August 8th, all his supporters must turn out to vote to prevent the Opposition, led by Mr. Odinga from forcing a coalition government.
"The only way they know to get power is through the back door. Please come out in large numbers to give us a clear win." The President said.
The President added that Kenya cannot benefit from a coalition government following the experience under former President Mwai Kibaki's administration.
"Do not allow this man (Raila) to create problems for us the same way he created problems for Mzee Kibaki."

Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth has rejected a job offer from the president in favor of uncertainties of running for public office. The man from Bahati has refused to step down for Mike Mbuvi Sonko despite requests from the top leadership of the ruling party.
He was speaking in Karen when he made clear his intention to stay put till August the 8th. Peter Kenneth urged the president to let the people decide on their own who they wanted to lead the country's capital. He further said Kidero was a failure and Sonko a disaster in waiting.
Kenneth was also quoted saying he was the man best suited to clean the mess that Nairobi is. The man has promised to provide every constituency with its own mini city hall, fire stations and own garbage collection trucks.
Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier reminded Peter Kenneth that Sonko was the man the people of Nairobi had settled on during the party primaries and therefore he had to respect the will of the people. Peter Kenneth rejected the party primaries outcome saying it was the result of a shambolic process. He is also on record saying the deputy president William Ruto rigged him out.
Peter Kenneth is part of an alliance of independence candidates led by Kiambu governor William Kabogo. Others in the caucus are Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki and Tetu MP.

Earlier, it was Sonko being pressured to step down for Peter Kenneth who supposedly was being fronted by the Murang'a businessmen in preparation for 2022 succession politics.
