Curtains Close For The 2017 Kenyan Election Campaigns

Kenyans to decide their leaders on Tuesday, 8th August.

After a grueling period of crisscrossing the country and asking for votes, the official campaign period for the 2017 elections ended today.
Officially launched on May 28 by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Kenyans have been wooed by the various leaders seeking elective posts. Today, the two major political parties, Jubilee and NASA, held their final rallies in Nakuru and Nairobi respectively.

 With their manifestoes and promises, candidates spoke to their supporters for the final time and urged them to turn out on Tuesday in large numbers and vote.
In Nakuru, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Vice President William Ruto were in Afraha Stadium, where they addressed their supporters and asked them to give them a chance to finish the work they started.




In the other camp in Nairobi, the NASA coalition led by Raila Odinga, and Kalonzo Musyoka addressed supporters that gathered at the Uhuru Park. The principals urged the supporters to turn out and help them form a new government.
The leaders asked the supporters to maintain peace and order during the election. They expressed their confidence in clinching a win.





On Tuesday, 8th August, Kenyans go to the ballot to elect their President, Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament, Women Representative and Member of County Assembly(MCA).

  • An IT expert called Alex Kioni has been appointed to replace Chris Msando. He is the son of Esau Kioni and will be helped by his brother a Ben Kioni.
James Orengo went further to provide the details of how they planned to curb the rigging. Here are the details as transcribed from the lawyer.
  • The results announced at the constituency level must be the ones announced at the national level.
  • NASA to announce, add and transmit alongside IEBC.
  • Only signed forms will be used by the IEBC to retrieve results.

NASA politicians have taken a very sharp tone on the Tuesday elections. The ongoing NASA rally at Uhuru park in Nairobi is full of passionate speeches.
Governor of Nairobi Evans Kidero has promised that 4 million residents of Nairobi will take to the streets next week if the elections are rigged. He further said that Raila will be sworn in on Wednesday.
Evans Kidero further accused unmentioned people of killing IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando after sensing inevitable defeat.
Governor of Mombasa County delivered a very emotional speech saying kama mbaya ni mbaya. He has also accused the government of killing, stealing and being corrupt.

Hassan Joho on the other hand is poised to retain his seen in a Paul Kagame kind of fashion. The opinion polls have placed him ahead of his competitors combined and doubled up.

LATEST: An Oil Tanker Explosion Rocks Likoni in Mombasa



Heavy smoke billows from a Likoni oil terminal as residents watch on Saturday, 5 August 2017
 

A huge fire engulfed a fuel terminal in Likoni, Mombasa following an oil tanker explosion.

No fatalities were reported as fire fighters and police contained the incident. Property worth millions were destroyed in the terminal.

The explosion whose cause is unknown occurred at about 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 5 an oil tanker exploded inside a fuel facility at Mbaraki Bulk Terminal Ltd in Mombasa causing panic among area residents.  The terminal is near the Nakumatt Supermarket, Mombasa.

The terminal has a storage capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes. According to security guards, at least six tankers were inside the premises at the time.The explosion occurred earlier this afternoon around lunch time. Those trapped in the terminal were rescued and the injured were rushed to the hospital.
Witnesses say they heard a huge explosion from the diesel section of the terminal.

Journalists were not allowed to access the scene.

The Mombasa  County Fire Brigade arrived at the scene to contain the flames although no one else could access the area because of the flames. Members of the Kenya Red Cross also responded to the incident to assist those affected. A huge crowd gathered to witness the incident.

Further reports now indicate that the fire has been contained. Local leaders expressed their sorrow as the terminal was a source of employment to many local residents.

A scientific study done by the Journal of Eating Disorders interviewed 900 women aged between 18 and 87 about their overall body dissatisfaction.

It reinforced the saying that you should never question your wife’s weight or even dare answer questions about it. Furthermore, this perception of better body image is also achieved by not mention or asking about their age.

The pressure is more on women because of double standards in the film and music industry. Older male celebrities are termed as ‘hot’ or ‘classy’, while older female celebrities do not enjoy the same.


This deadly combination of age and weight question is a sensitive topic for women. So next time, do not hurt her feelings. Just reassure her that everything is okay. 

If you must tell her, then show by actions. Start an exercise regime and you will have challenged her to join you. Do not tell her to her face, you might ruin everything and hurt her self-esteem.

Despacito Has Now Surpassed See You Again As The Most Watched YouTube Video


Despacito, a song by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee is now the most streamed and most watched video on YouTube. 
The song which was uploaded to YouTube just seven months ago is being watched 15 million times everyday. That averages to 170 times per second.
Hitting the 3 billion mark puts the Spanish song way above the rest like Psys' Gangnam Style and Wiz Khalifa's See You Again.
Gangnam Style was the first song ever to hit the one billion million mark. Many videos have since hit the milestone with musicians like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Enrique Iglasius having several songs with over a billion views.
YouTube which owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet, has grown massively over the years with millions of people going to the site daily to watch videos. It has 1.5 billion monthly users.
YouTube has also created its fair share of superstars like PewDiePie and Jake Paul who rake in millions of dollars every year from making YouTube videos.

Vehicle Belonging To A Kenyan Politician Arrested Ferrying Msando Murder Suspects

A vehicle belonging to a Kenyan politician has been arrested ferrying Chris Msando's murder suspects in Uganda. The Toyota Fortuner was carrying three when it was intercepted by Uganda Flying Squad.

The three suspects, the police spokesperson said, changed the vehicle's number plates after crossing the Busia border.
The Kenyan number plates not yet revealed to the public are said to point to a Kenyan politician, who vehicle the Toyota Fortuner is believed to belong to.
The police spokesperson further said  there are chances the vehicle was used by the killers but could not confirm the details. Interpol is handling the issue.
Chris Msando was brutally murdered alongside Carol Ngumbu last week using a rope. They both died of ligature strangulation.

Why Trusting The Kenyan Mainstream Media May Not Be Your Best Bet





In a sad turn of events, news reporting has become a game of MUSICAL CHAIRS for we cannot be sure what to believe and what to ignore. Especially during this election period, mainstream houses have been rushing to be the first to break news to the public.

 Time and time again, this information has led to confusion leading to distrust of the mainstream media houses we have known as protectors of integrity and truth.
On Friday night, the media broke out with the following story;





Several minutes later, the media houses came up with this next piece of news:





When everything had calmed down, on Saturday morning, a press statement issued to the press, read in part;


Pictures of the alleged raid on the NASA Sifa Tower Offices also showed up online;





Then, in an interesting twist, the media took up the matter again yet they earlier reported it as untrue;



Earlier this week, news broke that KDF Spokesman, J.M. Owuoth was missing. This claim later came out to be untrue.

In their quest to be the first to break the news, mainstream media are really messing up their street cred by making Kenyans question all the news.
Ideally, all news should be verified first before posting to the public to prevent confusion. Citizens are advised to verify source of their information before sharing it out and causing unnecessary tension.

Hypocrite! Kenyans Abuse Grace Msalame For Supporting Jubilee, She Reveals Her Tribe

Hell has broken loose for Grace Msalame since she decided to make her political stand public. She announced her endorsement of Uhuru's second term on her social media pages after what she termed a period of being lukewarm.

Her earlier endorsement post had many saying the endorsement was tribe related. Grace Msalame clarified that her tribe is a mixture of Taita and Kikuyu. She went ahead to inform her fans that her sister is married to a Luhya.
Many have asked what is in this endorsement for Grace Msalame. Kenyan artists and celebrities are known all over the world to be the most selfish of their kind. They only do things that benefit them and only them.
Considering her experience in PR, this could be a job she was hired to do and there are very high chances that this endorsement did not come out of pure political consciousness.

Robbers Make Away With 15 Million Ksh From Chinese SGR Workers

A strange robbery incident involving Chinese personnel working for the Kenyan SGR has police scratching their heads. On Thursday night, five masked men broke into the Chinese workers' Karen home and made away with cash and valuables worth 15 million shillings.

 Although the house did not show any sign of forced entry, the police suspect that they robbers had a key or other means to access the door. What puzzled the officers was that guards working at the home said they never heard any commotion during the robbery. This made the whole incident very questionable.

The construction of the Standard Gauge Railway was funded by the Chinese Government and in the process, many Chinese nationals moved into Kenya as engineers and logistic personnel.

In an earlier incident in January, two policewomen were charged with robbing Chinese nationals a sum of 10 million shillings.
The robbery victims were also employees of the same company that built the railway line from Mombasa to Nairobi and is currently in its second phase for the section to Kisumu.

It is expected that these employees still withdraw large sums of money and has thus raised the interest of robbers who want to make quick money.

The matter is still being investigated and it remains to be seen if any culprits will be brought to book.

Trump To End The Green Card Program: Trouble For Africans With The American Dream

The Green Card lottery program that has helped 17,000 Kenyans to gain United States permanent residency could be on its deathbed after Donald Trump endorsed a legislation that seeks to replace it with a merit based immigration system.
The new system seeks to rank applicants based on their level of work experience, family ties and education. People who can support themselves financially and be able to speak English will be more advantaged.
Africans have been the biggest beneficiary of the Green Card accounting for more than half of the people granted permanent residency status by the program. There was a point at which Nigeria was barred from participating.
The White House said the outdated Green Card serves questionable economic and humanitarian interests.
One of the Bill's lead sponsors, Tom Cotton said the Green Card should not be viewed as American generosity but lack of commitment to the struggling American middle class. He also stressed that there is need to change that.
This is a big blow to Africans and citizens of the Middle East countries fleeing political unrest, hunger and cultural oppression. They also flee to America for better opportunities in health, education and work.

Archbishop Gilbert Deya Extradited To Kenya To Face Baby Stealing Charges

Controversial televangelist Gilbert Deya of the UK-based Gilbert Deya Ministries has finally been extradited to Kenya to face human trafficking charges.
Gilbert Deya and his wife who is serving time in a Kenyan prison started and led a scheme famously known as miracle babies where they claimed they could pray for barren women to have children.
Gilbert Deya has eluded Kenyan authorities for more than a decade using courts in the United Kingdom. He claimed he would not receive fair judgement in the Kenyan judicial system.

Gilbert Deya's plane touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday morning. He was in handcuffs. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the televangelist had been handed over to the CID.
The charge sheet of Gilbert Deya says he and his wife, Mary Deya stole five children between 1999 and 2004. Mary Deya is serving three years in prison for similar charges.
Deya claims his church has a membership of over 34,000 in the UK alone. His website also thanks Her Majesty the queen of England, former president of Kenya Daniel Arap Moi and King Mswati III of Swaziland for paying them a visit.
