Revealed: Real Reason Why Railonzo's Security Was Withdrawn

Acting Interior Security CS, Fred Matiangi. PHOTO | CAPITAL FM
The security detail for the NASA principals was reduced with the CS stating that there was over-deployment and the security could be used elsewhere. Many found the timing suspicious as anxiety looms over the repeat elections that were to happen on October 17 but were later pushed to Oct 26.

Matiangi:
Why should 20 bodyguards follow Raila to pressers?
Odinga and his co-principals do not need 20 police officers while the security assessment doesn’t show they need them
What law have we broken? The Inspector General of Police deploys police officers to duty where they are needed.
We cannot tolerate that anymore. They have pushed us to the wall and we are saying enough is enough.
Security is withdrawn because he is like any other Kenyan without particular emphasis on title or position.

NASA Response:
We are equally dismayed by the decision by Jubilee to withdraw the security detail assigned to our Presidential Candidate the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and his Running Mate H.E. Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka. This is a dangerous precedent in bad taste and we want to tell President Uhuru Kenyatta that should anything happen to any of our Principals, we shall lay the blame squarely on his shoulders. Uhuru Kenyatta as the current holder of the instruments of power is solely responsible for the security of Raila Odinga.

All over the world, governments harass their opposition to try to keep on the leash. Mostly, the activities are either to paint them in a bad light or a threat to remind them who is in charge.

As a presidential appointee and member of the cabinet, any cabinet secretary makes a decision that has been approved by the cabinet. The President is the head of the cabinet and it was obvious this was a move to show the NASA principals that there is someone in power.

In addition, as the campaign window keeps diminishing every day, politics as a game demands that you try and frustrate your opponent as much as you can.
However, to prevent backlash from citizens and other quarters, you ensure that you try to remain within the law as much as is possible.

Presenting the argument that security assessment shows no immediate threat to the leaders is a ruse to cover the real intention of destabilizing the opposition.

Obviously, you cannot separate the government from the politicians who lead it. Any decision the government makes is a majority decision within it. The politics in it is undemocratic but then again in the quest for self-preservation and status quo, men do what they have to do.

Hate the game.

Hugh Hefner, Billionaire And Naughty Playboy Is Dead

The 91-year-old founder and chief creative officer of Playboy Enterprises who infamously dated blonde after blonde, most notoriously courting the cast members of the short-lived reality series The Girls Next Door died earlier on September 27, 2017.  He previously admitted to sleeping with "more than" 1,000 women — Hef maintained that he always stayed faithful during the multiple times he was married.

"Life is too short to be living somebody else's dream."

"The major civilizing force in the world is not religion, it is s*x."
"In my wildest dreams, I could not have imagined a sweeter life."
"I always say now that I'm in my blonde years. Because since the end of my marriage, all of my girlfriends have been blonde."

Hef, was a distinguished polygamist with a reported net worth of $43 million and had famously welcomed his multiple girlfriends to live in his house, also known as the Playboy Mansion.

Hugh Hefner, who created Playboy magazine and spun it into a media and entertainment-industry giant — all the while, as its very public avatar, squiring attractive young women (and sometimes marrying them) well into his 80s — died on Wednesday at his home, the Playboy Mansion near Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 91.

His death was announced by Playboy Enterprises.

Hefner the man and Playboy the brand were inseparable. Both advertised themselves as emblems of the sexual revolution, an escape from American priggishness and wider social intolerance. Both were derided over the years — as vulgar, as an adolescent, as exploitative, and finally as anachronistic. But Mr. Hefner was a stunning success from his emergence in the early 1950s. His timing was perfect.

Twitter paid its tributes:

Congo Dandies: I Might Sleep Hungry But I Must Wear That Suit!

You got to look like a million dollars! PHOTO | RT
“To stand out, you must have lots of clothes and shoes – that makes a dandy,” one Sapeur said as he showed racks of Kenzo, Armani and Yves Saint Laurent suits in his home. “There is competition, so the price matters,” Severin Muengo said.

There are men in the Republic of the Congo who proudly walk down dirty streets in alligator boots and designer suits, yet they live in poverty. They are members of the fashion-conscious ‘La Sape’ movement, who believe that “price matters.”

All for the look. PHOTO | RT

“When you dress up you really are the best,” Maxime Pivot from Brazzaville, the capital city of the central African country, said. He is always dressed in bright suits and the man calls himself “the king of color.” Where ever he goes, people shout “The god of clothes!” and “The pride of our area!” while falling to their knees. He’s “unbeatable,” they say.

I am god!. PHOTO | RT

To be a proud member of the appearance-obsessed group known as “The Society of Ambianceurs and Elegant People” – or “La Sape” – comes at a price. The men have been dressing like “dandies,” as they say, since the Congolese soldiers who fought in France during World War II returned home to Africa, bringing Parisian fashions with them.

Going for spending sprees on designer clothes, the dress of these men stands out in stark contrast to their surroundings. They never give a second thought to walking dirty streets in shoes that cost them – and their families – more than a fortune

Jela Tibim! Babu Owino Is Facing Up To 7 Years In Jail

Babu Owino Arrested Abuses Uhuru Kenyatta President Mtoto Wa Mbwa
Newly elected Embakasi East Member of Parliament might have just bitten more than he could chew as a 7 year jail term hangs over his head.
The firebrand politician made some very abusive comments that suggested the president was the son of a dog during a NASA rally.
Babu Owino, also known as Paul Ongili, later clarified that he did not mentioned the president by name and might have even been referring to SONU president. He was at the helm of SONU for four terms, a first in the University of Nairobi.
He was arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations yesterday and arraigned in court today. His lawyer Senior Counsel James Orengo asked the court to release his client on bond, a plea opposed by the prosecution which said it had compelling reasons as to why Babu should stay behind bars.
Babu Owino is facing subversion charges and uttering abusive words. The prosecution said Babu has faced charges of such nature before.
If found guilty, he could face up to 7 years in jail, something that could make him lose his seat and bury his political career.
Babu Owino's utterances sparked violent protests in Gatundu, Githurai and other areas where the president commands massive support. The protestors took to the street to demand for Babu's apologies, to both Uhuru and his mother, and his arrest and prosecution.
Babu was widely defiant on Twitter moments before his arrest saying cells are meant for human beings. He further told the public to brace for demonstrations like never witnessed before. The demos he was making reference to are ongoing and are aiming to flush Ezra Chiloba out of office.

IEBC Agree That UNDP Will Monitor Ballot Paper Printing

The United Nations Development Programme.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)  have a new job! They have agreed to monitor the printing of the presidential ballot papers for the upcoming Kenyan election on October 26, 2017. So who are UNDP?

According to their website, UNDP (an arm of the United Nations), is "on the ground in about 170 countries and territories, and work to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We help countries develop strong policies, skills, partnerships, and institutions so they can sustain their progress."

IEBC said that UNDP has offered to procure presidential ballot papers and results declaration forms on behalf of the commission.

The commission wrote a letter to NASA, and said they have a financing agreement project with UNDP, which has agreed to offer the aid and help to strengthen the electoral process.

IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati said this will happen despite the commission's contractual arrangement with Dubai-based Al Ghurair firm.

"This assistance is meant to restore public confidence and trust in the integrity of the ballot papers and result forms to be used in the fresh election as well as address the concerns raised by the Supreme Court." he said.

"The commission, in accordance with its Plenary resolution, wrote to the National Treasury vide a letter dated September 19 2017...to see advice on further engagement with UNDP with regard to this offer. We await feedback,.

Due to time constraints before the fresh presidential election, the commission will allow the company OT Morpho to manage the KIEMS system.

This time, IEBC will request Safaricom Limited to deploy KIEMS kits tablet SIM cards in all the 40,883 polling stations across the country owing to its strong network coverage.

Chebukati said Safran has assured it will conduct a transparent and publicised dry-run of KIEMS connectivity and performance in respect of result transmission before the election.

"The commission will embed technical experts from the UN and the commonwealth as well as representatives seconded by each candidate into the electoral ICT team," he said.

According to Chebukati, the electoral commission will further procure an independent audit of the commission's data, software and IT system used in the August 8 election.

IEBC also plan have a  reputable organization conduct quality assurance tests of the IT system, before the election date.

The new election date remains as rescheduled for October 26.

The commission has planned a meeting with NASA and Jubilee leaders to deliberate on critical issues.

NASA Versus Jubilee On Twitter After Babu Owino's Arrest

Blow for blow. Floyd Mayweather in a past boxing match.
In the psychology of confirmation bias, you see what you want to see and ignore what you do not want to see. After Embakasi MP, Babu Owino was arrested by police over his remarks about the President, netizens took sides. It was time to defend who they believed was right.

Babu Owino Arrested. Are Politicians Getting Out Of Hand?

Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino. PHOTO|NATION
After crazy remarks during the weekend in a NASA rally, Babu Owino has stirred the waters again. When supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta went to the streets to protest his rude remarks, the police had to do something and the MP was arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Are our politicians getting out of hand?

We are used to the smooth-talking politicians who sometimes take jabs at each other and call each other names. However, until recently the 'worst' we heard was maybe 'jamaa wa vitendawili', 'hustla' or 'mlevi'.
After the August 8th elections that were faulted by the Supreme Court and the return to the campaigns, it is safe to say that politicians have decided to go all out.

From Moses Kuria, Johnstone Muthama to Babu Owino, harsh words have been said while addressing the public. With opposing sides that all believe their victory in the election was stolen, there is no end in sight to the insults and mentions as the mudslinging continues.

Mr. Ongili was arrested in Nairobi's Central Business District at 4pm  on Monday and taken to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road for interrogation.

When interviewed, the Nairobi County Police Commander Japhet Koome confirmed the arrest but did not give further details.

Mr Ongili had earlier in the day, in a Facebook post denied that he had mentioned the President in the remarks he made.

“I will not apologize to anyone because I called nobody’s name during my yesterday’s address. We have so many presidents in Kenya, from the President of Sonu (University of Nairobi Student Union), to all presidents of student unions in Kenya. President of the Supreme Court, President of the Youth Senate and many more.”

If history is anything to go by, all cases of derogatory remarks usually fizzle out in Kenya. Monday's reaction by residents who are Uhuru Kenyatta's supporters just show the edgy situation that the country is in. However, we all know that instead of calming the situation, politicians usually ride on these kinds of emotions.
