7 Reasons You Are Always Broke AF!

Look here. I always try to be diplomatic and act nice when talking about money issues. Today is not that day. I'm gonna give it to you straight up! You earn some money but your bank account is always empty before next paycheck.
Babies won't read this. Y'all adults so I'll be blunt. This is why you are broke.

  1. Your social life is too active. So you think you'll leave the house and not spend money? What are you? A nun? Anytime you leave your house be ready to spend money. So leave your ATM at home and carry just enough to live by. Nothing will happen. Stop being a scaredy cat!
  2. You pay five times your budget for a meal to look cool. Look, we all want to seem rich to our friends. Fake it till you make it, right? Well, if your pockets are shallow you are digging your financial grave.
  3. You have an iPhone. Or probably not. But you always go for the latest phone in the market and blow your budget. If your old phone call still makes calls, browses the internet and takes pictures, stick to it until you can 'afford' another one.
  4. You have amnesia. This is a medical condition that you suffer from immediately when you are paid. You forget that you have to pay bills and eat until your next paycheck. YOLO, right.? Gerrarahia!
  5. You are in a relationship and forget that loving another needy human being is expensive.
  6. You are a girl and girls should live beyond their means and slay. They should keep up to the latest trends and fashion. Why you forgetting that pizza is not food. That garbage is too expensive and it ruins your body.
  7. You are unemployed. You are picky with jobs and fantasizing to get married to the Prince of Saudi Arabia or the Princess of Norway. Get a life!

When Jimi Wanjigi appeared to address a press conference for the very first time it was not just government persecution that stuck in Kenyans' minds. His wife was right there offering support in form of holding him and Wetangula just stood there holding himself.
Kenyans started an online challenge and here is how it went down.

Raila Opens Floodgates As He Announces Demonstrations On Election Day

Raila Odinga has reiterated his call to supporters to boycott the forthcoming elections saying he will not participate in the process with the IEBC staying as it currently is.
He also took this chance to announce that they will resume their mass action on October 26th, the same day the elections are to be conducted.
Raila Odinga took the chance to tell his supporters that IEBC is being run from State House and cannot be trusted to conduct a credible election.
This is happening at the same time Roselyn Akombe decided to throw in the towel and resign from her position from the IEBC. She cited threats to her life and circumstances that compromise her principles.

Raila Odinga has taken a strong stance and it seems nothing in sight will relent his plans which are currently unknown by Kenyans.
Having demonstrations on election day brings a new twist to the already messed up situation as it is unclear what will happen should the demonstrators decide to engage those going to vote.
Polling stations are heavily guarded by armed police men and any effort to breach polling stations will be met with brutal force.

UhuRuto Government Was Formed In My House: Jimi Wanjigi Declares

Jimi Wanjigi

In an absolutely RARE address to the media and the public, businessman Jimi Wanjigi has come out to say that the current UhuRuto government was formed in his house. While speaking to the press after the police raided his home, Mr. Wanjigi said that this was all political.

He said that Uhuru Kenyatta's and William Ruto's government was formed in his house in 2013 and the deal that saw the two vie for the presidency was hatched under his roof. He also added that Raila Odinga had come to meet Uhuru Kenyatta in the same Muthaiga home when the Supreme Court validated the election in 2013.
The businessman said that the police had illegally broken into his home, destroyed his property and even harrassed his wife. During the press briefing, lawyers and politicians allied to the NASA coalition were present.
Wanjigi's father was also present and he condemned the raid saying the perpetrators had blurred the line between politics and family.
Jimi Wanjigi also said that it was his democratic right to support whomever he wished and this should not be used to persecute him.

UNBELIEVABLE: Listen to Roselyn Akombe's Interview With BBC

Dr. Roselyn Akombe
In a phone interview with BBC, former IEBC Commissioner, Roselyn Akombe said that she has been receiving threats and she does not feel safe in Kenya. She had earlier released a statement of her resignation saying the electoral body cannot hold a credible poll.
She says it became increasingly difficult to continue her role in the electoral body. She also mentioned the murder of Chris Msando and the fact that it had not yet been solved.

In a SHOCKING statement, Dr. Roselyn Akombe, who was a commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision of Kenya has resigned saying ' the repeat election as planned cannot meet the basic expectations of a credible election.' You will remember that several days after the August 8 election, she was delayed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for 'trying to flee' without official leave. However, this time, she cleverly disguised her leave as part of the team that went to monitor ballot printing in Dubai.

This throws the preparation of the electoral body into disarray as she has severely dented the statements that IEBC has made saying that they are ready for the repeat election.
Here is the full statement;

I haven't been speaking loudly about politics and what's going on in My motherland Kenya, it is now becoming unbearable!!

Press Statement by Dr. Roselyn Akombe

17 October 2017, New York

For many months now, I have questioned my role as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. But I have soldiered on hoping that we could collectively find a way of addressing the crisis our country faces today. I have agonized over the decision to leave my committed IEBC FIELD staff and my country. My decision to leave the IEBC will disappoint some of you, but it is not for lack of trying. I have tried the best I could do given the circumstances. Sometimes, you walk away, especially when potentially lives are at stake. The Commission has become a party to the current crisis. The Commission is under siege.
It has become increasingly difficult to continue attending plenary meetings where Commissioners come ready to vote along partisan lines and not to discuss the merit of issues before them. It has become increasingly difficult to appear on television to defend positions I disagree with in the name of collective responsibility. I have concluded that I am no longer making any significant contribution to the Commission and to my country as a Commissioner. It broke my heart in the last few days to listen to my staff in the field, a majority of whom truly want to do the right thing, express to me their safety and security concerns. I shared detailed reports from staff in four of the Counties most hit by the ongoing protests - Nairobi, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homa Bay - with the hope that this will bring sobriety to our decision making. Instead this was met with more extremist responses from most Commissioners, who are keen to have an election even if it is at the cost of the lives of our staff and voters. It is unacceptable for any party to disrupt, attack and injure our staff in Mumias, Bungoma, Homabay, Siaya, and Kisumu as they did today. These acts must be condemned by all and action taken against the perpetrators. I acknowledge that the Supreme Court gave us orders to organize the presidential election within 60 days. The current political conditions did not exist on the 1st of September when the order was issued. It would therefore have been logical for the Commission to be frank with the Kenyan people and clearly state the challenges we face in organizing a free, fair, and credible election. It is critical that all political actors and the Commission take a pause to review where we are leading this country. It is not too late to save our country from this crisis. We need just a few men and women of integrity to stand up and say that we cannot proceed with the election on 26 October 2017 as currently planned.

We need the Commission to be courageous and speak out, that this election as planned cannot meet the basic expectations of a CREDIBLE election. Not when the staff are getting last minute instructions on changes in technology and electronic transmission of results. Not when in parts of country, the training of presiding officers is being rushed for fear of attacks from protestors. Not when Commissioners and staff are intimidated by political actors and protestors and fear for their lives. Not when senior Secretariat staff and Commissioners are serving partisan political interests. Not when the Commission is saddled with endless legal cases in the courts, and losing most of them. Not when legal advice is skewed to fit partisan political interests. The Commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on 26 October 2017. I do not want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity. Our people are resilient. Our people are patient. What we are faced today is a political crisis that cannot be solved by the Commission alone. Let us solve the political crisis we have at hand and then chart the way forward towards a credible presidential election. The lessons from 2007/8 are too fresh, lest we forget.
God Bless Kenya.
Roselyn Akombe (PhD)
Commissioner, IEBC

Revealed: Why Secondary School Teachers Hate And Look Down Upon Primary School Teachers

Okay, "hate" is a strong word. Let's call it "despise". There exists an unspoken hatred between secondary school teachers and their counterparts from primary schools. Here are four reasons why these two never rate each other highly.

  1. Education- As a teacher in high school, you probably went through campus. You shared hostels with the engineers and doctors of this nation. You were in an institution of higher learning. On the other hand, Teacher Training Colleges yield our primary school teachers. So you feel entitled and better than your counterparts. That's evil.
  2. Money- Teachers in secondary schools earn better than those in primary schools. We are both dealing with children. Why should they earn more?
  3. Intellect- When you teach Chemistry, you need to be smart. When you teach Physics, you are a genius!! You tend to look down upon that Science teacher yet they teach broader topics than you.
  4. Free Time- While secondary school teachers struggle to finish syllabi and ensure their students are ready for the national exams, they have less free time. They feel their pay is not proportionate to the time they spend. Not a good reason to feel bitter though

Finally, I teach 'students' and you teach 'pupils'. That notion brings up so much unexplained pride.

Form Four Student Shot Dead In Kisumu Demos: Luo Bloodshed Continues

Vihiga High School Student Shot Dead In Kondele NASA

A form four student from Vihiga High School has become part of the statistics of those whose lives are being claimed by NASA deadly protests as he lost his life while going to buy an ice cream from a vendor in Kondele today.
The boy, who was away from school for not paying school fees, was shot in the neck by the police as he tried to hide away from them.
The police were engaging the protesters in a deadly battle after they barricaded the roads despite CS Fred Matiang'i banning protests in Kisumu, Nairobi, and Mombasa.
The boy's mother, Caroline Okello, says she had warned the boy not to go out citing the violence involved during the protests. Both the police and protestors have resorted to brutal force in a political stalemate that is now taking casualties day in day out even as the politicians continue to take hard stances.
An eyewitness Michael Odhiambo who is 21 years of age, confirmed watching the murder as he talked about the process. He said he watched as a police officer, whose identity we have not confirmed, just pointed his gun at the18-year-old and squeezed the trigger.
This is not the first incident as two were shot in Raila's backyard as the police claimed they had raided a police station to steal arms.
May the deceased rest in peace.

This is a developing story. More details are underway from our news desk.

LMAO! Drama As Kisumu Residents 'Rename' Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground [PHOTOS]

Amid the running battles with police in Kisumu as protestors showed their displeasure towards the electoral body of Kenya(IEBC), a few cheeky residents got an idea. Just a few metres from them, the city's sports ground bore the name of the father of their leader's nemesis. This, they considered a serious injustice and they decided to do something about it.

First, they would start with this, paint out the enemy's name..

And after several minutes of hard work, Voila!!
A sports ground bearing the name of the father of their leader.

Legal? Lol. I do not know!

Mogadishu Blast: What We Know So Far

A man runs from a massive explosion Sunday in front of the Safari Hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia. SAID YUSUF WARSAME / EPA
A massive truck bomb detonated in Somalia's capital city, Mogadishu on Saturday 14 October, 2017. Ambulance sirens echoed across the city as shocked families wandered in the debris of buildings, looking for missing relatives.
"In our 10-year experience as the first responder in #Mogadishu, we haven't seen anything like this," the Aamin Ambulance service tweeted.

  • At least 300 people believed to have been killed in Saturday's double car bombing in Mogadishu, making it the deadliest incident in Somalia's modern history.
  • Somalia's Ministry of Information said 300 people remained in hospitals after the October 14 attack.
  • No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks
  • Al-Shabab earlier this year vowed to increase its attacks after both the Trump administration and Somalia’s recently elected president announced new military efforts against the group.
  • Dr Mohamed Yusuf, the director of Mogadishu’s Medina hospital, said his staff had been “overwhelmed by both dead and wounded. This is really horrendous, unlike any other time in the past.”
  • Investigators will seek to establish the source of the military-grade explosives. One source suggested they had been stolen from Amisom, the much-criticised African Union peacekeeping mission, which has about 20,000 troops in the country.
  • The US mission to Somalia said: “Such cowardly attacks reinvigorate the commitment of the United States to assist our Somali and African Union partners to combat the scourge of terrorism.”
  • Officials also confirmed that two people were killed in a second bomb attack in the Madina district of the city.
  • UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres tweeted that he was "sickened" by the attacks.
  • The President declared three days of mourning for the victims of the blast.

#LuoLivesMatter It’s Time We Talk About This

Seeing a dead body will horrify you today. Seeing a dead body tomorrow will be scary but less than today. If it happens for a week, your mind will accept it as normal. So long as you and your family are alive, then you can brush it off. #LuoLivesMatter

Nursery school children now know the effects of teargas. Women have been beaten and raped. Men are dead.  However, none was your child, sister or uncle. So it is normal, right? “They were told not to go outside. We told them to accept and move on. It is their fault.”
In a normal demo, people come out to express their disgust or disapproval at something or the government. Peaceful means singing and walking along roads. However, our society has nurtured the concept of burning tires on the roads. That makes a demonstration complete. Every market has mad men and when you have disillusioned men on the streets, they will express anger in whatever way they see fit.

Bring politics into the matter and you have a problem. There are two sides. Pro-government and the opposition. The government will show their force through police, men and women called to serve but who end up beating those they ought to protect. When you have officers who feel entitled, as part of the government, they will ‘maintain law and order’ by use of force. The video of armed police beating up individuals in Kisumu was such.
When you are entitled and feel that the death and suffering of people in a certain area is normal, you forget one thing. Tides turn and coins flip. You propagate a culture of insensitivity.
The people of Kisumu are crying but for some reason they still rise to protest. For them, it is better to die than continue a life of hopelessness. However, you still say, “It is their fault.”

Flossing, Violence And Brains: Luo Nyanza Is A Three-Sided Coin

Former President of the Uniterd States, Barack Obama. PHOTO | WDKX.com
Churchill Live, Gor Mahia fans, and Otiende Amollo. The Luo present three sides of the same coin. When talking about romance and pride, Kenyan comedians draw from the Lake.  When you mention violence, you talk Gor Mahia after they lose a match. You talk of Kisumu and Kibra when they say their votes have been stolen. Finally, when you talk lawyers, engineers and intellect, they still feature.

A society shapes perceptions and when your people are known to be flashy and wealthy; you will try to fit into the shoes, even without feet. Although there are numerous wealthy Luos, there also exist the poor ones. From a culture of proud people, you make YOLO your motto. Enjoy the good life but it comes at a cost. While others are brought up in a culture of frugality, Luos are proud and will not admit liability unless they have no choice.
A proud people tend to be extreme when defending what they think is right (whether legit or not). Kenya calls this ‘rowdy’ and ‘violent’. At this point, it is fundamental to note that their main methods are stone throwing and arson. However, murder is another matter. Judging from the weight that funerals have in Luo Nyanza, these people stay away from murder. You would rather destroy replaceable property.

Intelligent ones got an education with an intention of giving back to the community. Politics also came in, and Luo Nyanza has had its share of progressive minds in politics.
Overall, although unique in their own way, they are part of a nation and any chance to give to your neighbor is important, because he will always have what you do not. Communities should come together and feel they can access similar opportunities while everyone brings their uniqueness.

Of Scapegoats And Demons: Why Raila Odinga Has Always Been Hated Yet Loved

Raila Odinga. PHOTO | ALJAZEERA
‘Raila Odinga Will Never Be President.’ That is the most famous anti-Raila marketing gimmick in Kenya. Through the past three elections (2007, 2013 and 2017), it has been drilled into the minds of Kenyan voters. Is it true? Only time will tell.
Ever wonder where money comes from? No. Not the government. Money is created by private central banks by simply typing it into existence.
Out of thin air.

When Raila Odinga joined forces with Mwai Kibaki in 2002 to rid the country of the 24 year KANU and Moi rule, Kenya was at the height of ecstasy. Truly, immense progress followed during the 5 years after that bar several high-profile corruption cases. However, power is addictive and sweet. You make a deal but forget it as soon as you acquire power.
READ: #LuoLivesMatter It’s Time We Talk About This

When Mr. Odinga declared an interest in the presidency in 2007, the proponents of status quo had to think quickly. It is next to impossible to get rid of such a high profile individual, so next step is to attack his personality. Next, the mention of ‘uncircumcised man’ rose and this tapped into the emotion of voters. That probably solidified the extreme love and hate of the man that we know up to now. It comes up repeatedly to stir up emotion.
Out of thin air.

Most people, when their beliefs are challenged, hold onto them as though they are a life vest on a sinking ship. The problem is that often times; their beliefs are the sinking ship.”- Mark Manson

Of course, Luo Nyanza adores him because he is one of their own. Over the last  two decades, he has gained support from other communities too. Communities who embrace circumcision. He has been accused of using witchcraft etc. That is when you realize, it is not the point. He is a scapegoat.
Recently, an opportunity to tarnish his image came up when pictures came up during his time in Zanzibar and it was clear as hordes came to attack him while scores of others supported him.

The man is a seasoned politician and therefore uses his influence to shake up government. Though many argue his power is waning, Kenya cannot mention democracy without him. He has even said that his participation in Kenyan politics has never been about him. A few do not want him to be president for their own reasons. Human minds are malleable and it is easy to shape thoughts and perception. Appeal to emotion and you get your vote. Overall, there remains two lanes, the haves and have-nots.

Donald Kipkorir Writes A Scathing Letter To Matiang'i Asking Him To Stop Killing Luos

As the debate on why the government seems to be profiling luos and killing them escalates, a lawyer has come out to face Matiang'i directly in the form of an open letter.
While it is not lost on anyone that the cabinet minister will not be shaken by such letters, it sure is good that some people have the guts to offer checks and balances on a man who is so firm the president has moved him from some ministries to save him from himself.
Related,
Here is the letter.
Open Letter To Hon. Dr. Fred Matiang’i :
Nation Isn’t Built On Innocent Blood

We have many common friends and thus my choice not to have criticized your leadership style. But I also out of own style of engagement, don’t personalize criticism. I critique systemic and institutional problems. But the killings today in Bondo of unarmed demonstrators, beating up of a pregnant woman going to her business and throwing tear gas into a kindergarten broke my heart.
Being our Minister for Internal Security in addition to being Minister for Education may have bloated your ego. Many of your Cabinet colleagues are either my clients and/or friends. They tell me they call you out of sarcasm Super Minister and that you strut to Cabinet Meetings with near condescending attitude to them.
Anyway, what Police is doing under your watch is deeply regrettable. You maybe a Jubilee Super Minister, but all including yourself are under the Constitution. The Police cannot be going to Luo inhabited areas in Kisumu and Nairobi as though they are going to Boni Forest in Lamu. You can’t restrict NASA demonstrations that are lawful, but allow Mungiki calling themselves Nairobi Business Community to counter protest without license. Don’t do tribal profiling of the application of the law.
For now, power may blind you to believe that it is permanent. Calling NASA leaders all kind of derogatory names, withdrawing their security, threatening them with arrest or not being bothered when University students are being raped and nursery students tear gassed may look romantic to you for now, but power is always temporary no matter how powerful and seductive.
And History will show you that across all Empires and even in the Bible, those that rose so high fell so hard. We have a Constitution, respect it. Apply it equally to all and across all Parties. You cannot derogate the Constitution by ordinary legislation or Regulations. Public Security Order is inferior to the Constitution.
Exercise your power but within the Constitution. And remember, History records all. And time doesn’t run against crimes committed by those in power. And you will not plead superior command. The law catches up even in the sunset of your live. Stay advised. Sycophants don’t last.
Donald
