The Thin Line Between Consent and Harassment

It is clearly the open season for celebrity scandals especially those involving 'touching what you are not supposed to touch'. From a man who plans to be more successful in the future, here is why you should really think twice before you grab that a$$. First of all, a smile does not automatically mean consent. That you are in a position of power does not entitle you to anyone that your crazy imagination fancies.
The New York Times and The New Yorker  were the first to publish allegations of rape and sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein by Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan, and many other women before he was fired from his company
After the highly publicized allegations against Harvey Weinstein, here are the men who have been accused of sexual misconduct :

Hope Solo accuses Sepp Blatter of sexual assault at awards ceremony

The former Fifa president Sepp Blatter has been accused by Hope Solo, the USA women's football team goalkeeper, of having sexually assaulted her at Fifa's Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in January 2013. In an interview with the Portuguese newspaper Expresso, being published on Saturday, Solo, 36, claimed she "had Sepp Blatter grab my ass" at the glittering presentation of Fifa's annual football awards for achievement during 2012.

Louis C.K. Is Accused by 5 Women of Sexual Misconduct

Neither Louis C.K. nor Mr. Kay replied to follow-up emails in which the accusations were laid out in detail, or to voice messages or texts. On Thursday, the premiere of Louis C.K.'s new movie "I Love You, Daddy," was abruptly canceled, and he also canceled an appearance on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert."

This Writer Says Jann Wenner Offered Him Work In Exchange For Sex

When Ben Ryan, a 27-year-old writer for a little-known magazine, was contacted by Jann Wenner, one of the most powerful figures in magazine publishing, the young man leapt at the chance to come in and pitch some freelance stories.

Actor Nick Mutuma denies sexual assault allegations - Citizentv.co.ke

As more and more people come forward to accuse powerful men, celebrities and politicians, of sexual misconduct, many were wondering when the stream would get to Kenya. Well, on Friday, the first allegation was issued courtesy of Twitter user Koome Gitobu. The lady shocked many with a revolting revelation about Shuga actor Nick Mutuma.

Woman says Roy Moore initiated sexual encounter when she was 14, he was 32

Alabama resident Leigh Corfman said that in 1979, when Moore was an assistant district attorney, he brought her to his home and touched her sexually. Three other women said that Moore - now a candidate for U.S. Senate -- pursued them when they were teenagers and he was in his early 30s.

André Balazs, Celebrity Hotelier, Is Accused of Groping

The Times left repeated and detailed messages regarding these accusations with Mr. Balazs, his executive assistant and his personal publicist, Pierre Rougier. The messages were not returned. Attempts to reach Mr. Balazs through the general managers at his hotels were also unsuccessful.

Twitter on fire as Nick Mutuma and Joe Muchiri are accused of sexual harassment by multiple women

Women are now coming out in numbers to report incidents of sexual harassment against them. This precedence was set after multiple women including Lupita Nyong'o accused Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexually harassing them over decades. Over 10 male American celebrities and politicians have now been accused of sexual harassment since Harvey Weinstein's scandal blew up.

Although it might seem a non-issue now, these matters come back to haunt those who end up being successful. For whatever reason, when the opportunities rise and the accusers (legit or otherwise) speak up to the media, the downhill journey begins. These sort of cases can destroy careers as seen in the recent spate of cases.

#EyeWitnessChallenge When Kenyans Take Sarcasm To The Next Level

Two accidents. One man.
It all started when hawk-eyed Kenyans realized that one Mr. Dennis Muigai Ngengi appeared infront of TV camera's a bit too often. After the deadly helicopter crash in Lake Nakuru that claimed the lives of all those on board, Mr. Ngengi is on record saying he witnessed the accident. Fast forward and immediately after the grisly accident that claimed the life of the Governor of Nyeri, Wahome Gakuru, the same man is also on record talking about the crash. In this interview, he is also particular about the exact time that the accident took place and the cause.
Reports reaching our newsdesk indicate that he has since been arrested in Naivasha. According to sources within the police, upon interrogation, it emerged he was not a police officer but a con who took advantage of the accident.
Kenyans on social media jumped on this bizarre incident and posted creative and downright crazy photos.

Dark Days Ahead For Teachers As NASA's Economic Boycott Might Halt Their Pay Rise

Kenyan Teachers' Salary Raise KUPPET KNUT

The biggest casualties of NASA's ongoing economic boycott will be teachers if their planned pay hike is stopped by the government.
The Kenya National Union of Post Primary Education Teachers(KUPPET) through secretary general Akello Misori has said they have amended their promotion budget from the earlier stated 2 billion to a new figure of 10 billion shillings.
Negotiations are currently ongoing between the union officials and government officials from the education ministry.
The union recognized the fact that the payments will be drastically affected if boycott of companies from which government churns out the most revenue are affected.
Akello Misori asked the Uhuru Kenyatta led government and NASA's Raila Odinga to go to the negotiations table to find a solution to end the current political stalemate.
He also claimed they are not taking sides as a union saying every Kenyan has a right to have a political stand.
This announcement was made after the annual general meeting at Lake Junction in Migori County by secretary general Akello Misori.
NASA has called for total boycott of companies that either fund government or aid in the perennial rigging of elections. Many NASA supporters have since stopped using the products of  Safaricom, Brookside and BIDCO.
Safaricom is already taking a beating following a massive walkout of many of its users who are migrating to Airtel and Telkom.

'Hold My Beer'..Why Ex-Kilome MP Has Petitioned The Re-Election of Uhuru Kenyatta

Ex-Kilome MP, Harun Mwau
After the dust had settled in the Kenyan political arena, after another disputed presidential election. One man has come to stop the party. Ex-Kilome MP, Harun Mwau seems to understand the phrase that is commonly used in memes. 'Hold My Beer'. After celebrations of the president's election died down and the time-frame for filing a petition rapidly dwindling, Mr. Mwau has filed a petition to challenge the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

It all started when Former Kilome MP John Harun Mwau sought to stop the IEBC from holding the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26. He said that the conduct of the rerun is in violation of the Constitution.
His case was however dismissed and the elections proceeded as planned. The High Court dismissed former MP's petition, ruling that it lacked jurisdiction. He is seen as a believer in the law and an ardent defender of his rights and the legal path is not new to Mwau.  When President Daniel arap Moi was declared as the winner of the presidency in 1992, Mwau filed a petition in the High Court of Kenya. His argumentation was that the former president and other presidential candidates were not validly nominated.

Here is a photo of his petition;

While many expected other organized to file petitions after the opposition outfit NASA had not made any filing, Kenyans should then prepare for another legal battle.
After the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto as President-elect and Deputy President-elect, the country was preparing for a swearing-in ceremony on November 14.
Deadline for submitting petition was today, November 6, 2017 at midnight.
