Girl Defies All Odds Including Albinism To Top Country In KCPE

Goldalyn Kaluya is the epitome of hard work and determination after she did what many in this country are unable to do.
Instead of sitting back in self pity over her condition, she went to work and emerged the top candidate in last year's KCPE examinations.
Scoring a record breaking 455 marks, the brilliant girl from St Anne Junior School-Lubao in Kakamega has guaranteed her place in the history books.
She scored everything in both English and Kiswahili scoring 99 marks in both. It is said the KNEC systems use a two digit algorithm that gives a maximum of 99 marks if you score everything.
She had 85 in mathematics and 88 in Science. The girl is all rounded, clearly, scoring highly in both sciences and languages. Her future can only be brighter.
Those who taught her say she has led her class all through primary school. She hopes to join MPESA Foundation Academy or Kenya High School for her secondary education.
People living with albinism in this country are generally stigmatized in this country and some even end up losing their lives due to neglect and negative cultural beliefs. It is quite an inspiration that she rose above the difficulties to hit that milestone.
May the best of her todays be the worst of her tomorrows.

Mugabe's letter suggested he had resigned voluntarily to allow smooth transition of power.
Many saw this as a move to save face and avoid the humiliation of having to be impeached from a seat he had held for a period spanning over three decades.
The events that culminated in resignation had almost everything to do with his wife's ruthless ambitions. She positioned herself to take over from Mugabe's whose time in government and in the world were becoming limited by each passing days.
