Just Like The Phillipines, We Will Show You No Mercy, Sri Lanka Tells Drug Dealers.

The president of Sri Lanka has said that the country will begin measures that will see drug offenders and traffickers being hung. He added that they would wish to “replicate the success” in the Philippines where President Rodrigo Duterte has overseen a bloody war against drugs.

“Going forward, we are going to hang drug traffickers,” Maithripala Sirisena announced to his cabinet and mentioned that he “was ready to sign the death warrants” of serial drug offenders.

“We were told that the Philippines has been successful in deploying the army and dealing with this problem. We will try to replicate their success,” they said.

Since 2016, Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has implemented deadly measures on suspected drug traffickers. Since he came into power, his administration has allowed the extrajudicial killings of hundreds of offenders. Official figures state that more than 4,000 suspects died and the number could be higher.
Authorities admit that Sri Lanka needs a tougher approach on drug trafficking before the country's role as an international drug transit hub strengthens.

Amnesty International condemns the decisions saying it is against human rights.

Dinushika Dissanayake, Amnesty International, mentioned in a statement that “By resuming executions after more than 4 decades, Sri Lanka will ruin their reputation.” He added that the Sri Lankan government should stop all plans to carry executions and elaborate how exactly the death penalty should be implemented.”

Cardi B Names Daughter 'Kulture' As Mundane Names Continue To Die Out

While we continue naming our children, 'Mary' or 'John', celebrities and many parents are deciding to be more creative. The Bronx rapper announced the birth of her first child fathered by Offset, who is one-third of the Atlanta hip-hop outfit, Migos.

Cardi B and Offset named their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus on 10 July after Cardi posted on her Instagram. While Kulture is Cardi B’s first child, Offset becomes a dad for the fourth time. Migos have released music albums titled Culture and Culture II, which might be connected to Offset's inspiration.

Fans speculated for months before Cardi, who is 25, announced her pregnancy in a live performance on Saturday Night Live earlier this year.

TMZ revealed that the couple got married in September 2017 in a secret event in Georgia. Offset would later publicly propose to Cardi in Philadelphia a month later.
It's obvious that parents want their children to be unique and celebrities lead the pack. Examples of parents and their children with unusual names include;

Beyonce & Jay Z - Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter
Kim & Kanye West - North, Saint and Chicago West
Khloe Kardashian  - True Thompson
Kylie Jenner - Stormi Webster
Ciara - Sienna Princess Wilson
TI - Heiress Harris
Shannyn Sossamon - Audio Science
Jessica Simpson - Ace Knute
Ashlee Simpson - Bronx Mowgli
Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin - Apple

Believe it or not, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Seems some names will die out completely. Watch this space. Here are more unusual names.

Al Jazeera Declares That Octopizzo Is Nairobi's Rap King

In a video uploaded on their Twitter handle, Aljazeera tweeted that Octopizzo is Nairobi's Rap King. Octopizzo, whose real name is Henry Ohanga, is one of the most famous hip-hop artists in East Africa.
Octopizzo grew up in Kibera, Nairobi, which is one of the largest slums in Africa. Following his success in the music industry, Octopizzo is keen on fighting the stigma associated with residents of the slum.
He mentions how growing up in Kibera is difficult and how teachers and parents discourage their children telling them that they can never succeed. It is this culture of pessimism that the musician wants to fight and teach that if he made it, then anyone else who works hard can make it.
The incessant reminders of the hopelessness in the area make children resign and actually believe that they cannot be successful.
Orphaned at a tender age of 15, Octopizzo resorted to crime to fend for himself but his passion for music created his breakthrough.
The post-election violence of 2007 in Kenya saw him record his first track, "voices of Kibera" and he gained fame even participating in several advertising campaigns.
He believes that being born in Kibera shaped him to be the rapper he is and he involves family and friends who live there in his videos.
Furthermore, he supports upcoming talent and helps them produce tracks and develop their skills in making music.

Perhaps It's Time Kenya Gets A Benevolent Dictator

A benevolent dictator leads a government in which he/she exercises absolute political power over a nation but has the best interests of his people in mind.
In the 1940s, Singapore was a war-ravaged British port on an island off the southern tip of Malaysia. The population grew fast and most of the citizens were poor and uneducated surviving mostly in slums. However, when Singapore gained independence in 1965, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew took control but had a vision for the country.
In the following decades, Singapore’s economy grew multiple-fold and the percentage of families living in poverty dropped significantly. One would sensibly argue that the place runs like a Swiss watch.
To achieve his economic transformation, Lee Kuan Yew interfered with many aspects of Singaporean life. He set up free family planning clinics to control population growth. Education campaigns to encourage people to have small families started and he decreed that women who had three-or-more babies would face higher hospital charges, shorter maternity leave, and less income tax relief. Furthermore, there was a $5000 reward for mothers who agreed to sterilization and would then get first priority for public housing and schooling.
These measures might seem extreme, but the results were incredible.
Singapore required all workers to save 25% of their salaries and they could only claim the money after the age of 55. Meanwhile, the money went into a centralized fund that the government used to build roads, hospitals, schools, and housing.

This discipline was enforced by a leader who realized that that was the only way the country could go forward. In Kenya, the progress made since 1963 when we gained independence is good, but many argue that it could be better. Unfortunately, the country has sunk into systemic corruption and tribalism propagated by powerful individuals who have their own interests. As a result, provision of public services has become a favor that the government offers its citizens.
While drastic changes cannot occur overnight, perhaps a benevolent dictator might offer new insights. While the East Africa region has leaders some might term as benevolent, this is just a flowery proclamation that they push to validate their clinging to power. If indeed they were benevolent, these countries would be miles ahead of Kenya and at par with other developed nations of the world.

We all have negative opinions about the word 'dictator'. Expectedly, it creates visions of oppressive regimes that cause masses to suffer.  However, many suggest that the most effective political system, for everyone, is a dictatorship, especially when a country is still young and developing. The dictator has to be benevolent;  caring, kind, and toiling for the good of the people. Lastly, the dictator should be ruthless with anyone who misuses public funds.

What Happens When You Don't Use Up Your Medical Insurance?

It adds to the revenue of the insurance company.
The concept of underwriting risk can be straightforward. Insurance companies create "pools" or groups of people that pay premiums into a system and create a huge financial reserve that is used to pay for people who get sick. By the laws of probability, only a certain percentage of people will get ill during the year. It is their portion of the fund that is used to settle all claims lodged by those who actually got sick.
In the absence of this pooling, then the concept of health insurance cannot work.

So imagine if medical insurance companies gave you a refund each year that you didn't use your premium payments. There would be two major problems;

First, let's say you assume that applies to all people insured in your medical plan. That means about 80% do not get sick and they are therefore refunded. On the other hand, the remaining 20%  get sick and incur a myriad of expenses (chemotherapy, accidents, diabetes, etc). This means that the total amount of funds received from the 20% can never be close to cover the expenses and the insurance company goes under. They knew this that's why they set up the business in the first place. Therefore, the collected premiums from “healthy” persons will pay for those that need it. The government also knows this and they have set policies that ensure that a medical insurance company must have a minimum amount of reserves. This is based on a worst-case scenario where everyone covered under your insurance plan gets sick and you have to pay them.

Second, medical insurance companies encourage you to use up your insurance for preventative visits (physicals exams, wellness programs, etc).  This works for them because it ensures you remain healthy and in the long run, you will require less expensive healthcare.
If you fail to use your health benefits, we get a paradox where you may have lower expenditures in the short term but in the medium-to-long-term, you, my friend, are a time bomb waiting to explode. And when you explode with medical conditions that could have been identified earlier, "very expensive" is an understatement.

Nasty Fallout: How Khaligraph Jones Conned Msupa S

Nasty Fallout: How Khaligraph Jones Conned Msupa S

An exclusive interview with a close confidant of Msupa S reveals behind the scene happenings that led to a naive Msupa S losing all the royalty rights to a hit song whose success relied almost entirely on her 5 seconds of fame.
Khaligraph Jones, according to our mole, connived to benefit from Msupa S who was trending on social media and the mainstream. He convinced the Bomet based lady to appear in a song with him and even wrote her lyrics.
While Msupa S appeared to be the lead artist in the song, she was in fact a mere click-bait to draw people to Khaligraph Jones' YouTube channel.
The song which has since amassed more than one million views and still counting remains one of the most watched songs by Khaligraph Jones only rivaled by the one he did with his ex-girlfriend Cashy.
Daily Updates can now exclusively reveal that the person we talked to from Msupa S' camp said that Msupa S has not received any proceeds from the song in form of YouTube revenue or payments from live performances by Khaligraph Jones.
"Msupa S was made to hastily sign a contract when she met with Khaligraph Jones in studio in Buruburu. They went ahead to record the audio for the song and shot the video the next day. All these happened so fast we did not have time to go through the contract. The contract, as we came to realize with grief later, denied Msupa S any rights to the song. She cannot claim royalties from it. Khaligraph also wanted us to sign with his label under terms we were not comfortable with."
Msupa S has since moved on and released a song dubbed I Don't Care. When asked about her relationship with Jones on Citizen TV over the weekend, she was hesitant to respond but went ahead to say she would never speak negatively about the OG.
Khaligraph Jones has cut ties with several artists he has worked with including Cashy and Petra. He cited family issues as the reason for the strained relationship between him and Petra.
Daily Updates intends to keep its sources anonymous as requested by the said sources.

Types Of Headache And When You Should Be Worried

Described as a sensation of pain in any region of the head, headaches are as common as grains of sand on the beach. However, there are several types of headaches, and identifying what afflicts you is the first step in knowing what to do.

Often, headaches may occur just on one side of the head or spread out and may be sudden or a slow process that may last anything from a few minutes to even days.
The first thought many get when they have a headache is asking where the painkiller medication is. Unfortunately, this creates a dependency on pharmaceutical drugs that may not be good for you in the long run. Sometimes, headaches can go away with simple remedies such as sleep and drinking water.

Types of headache by location

We suffer from numerous types of headaches and before you seek medical attention or ignore your pain, here are some of the types you can identify on your own:

Front of your Head
Tension headache
Migraine
Eye strain
Sinus headache
Dehydration headache

Temples (side of your head)
Tension headaches
Ice-pick headache
Cervicogenic headache (is mainly as a result of another physical condition)

Back of your Head
Cervicogenic headache
Tension headache
Dehydration headache

Middle/Top of your head
Tension-type headache
Ice pick headache
Cough headache
Exertion headache
Coital (intercourse) headache

One Side
Migraines
Cluster headaches (occur in cyclical patterns or clusters, are one of the most painful types of headache).

You should visit a medical professional if your headaches cause any of the following;

  • Prevent you from sleeping, working or from being involved in normal activities
  • They are more painful than normal
  • They happen more frequently than before
  • They do not respond to drugs you buy over the counter
  • They leave you distressed and you are looking for more treatment options
