Jacque Maribe To Know Her Fate Today

Jacque Maribe To Know Her Fate Today

Disgraced television journalist Jacque Maribe and Dubai based club bouncer Joe Irungu will today know their fate when they appear before Judge James Wakiaga for their bail applications hearing.
Jacque Maribe is in the fight of her life to entangle herself from the messy murder case of Monica Kimani whose mutilated body was found in an apartment building in Kilimani Estate just hours after jetting in from South Sudan.
In court papers seen by Daily Updates, Jacque Maribe argues that she is a public figure with constant appearances on various television stations making it impossible for her to jump bail. She says that anyone would spot her in the streets by the first glance.
Jacque Maribe also says that her continued stay in prison is detrimental to the well being of her child. She says that the child will suffer if she stays behind bars until the conclusion of the murder trial.
The prosecution has vehemently opposed her release citing safety of witnesses and the fact that the investigations cross borders. Among the people on the prosecution's witnesses list is someone who saw Joe Irungu burn clothes behind Jacque Maribe's residence.

Okoth Obado Ruling Set For Today

Okoth Obado Ruling Set For Today

Governor of Migori County Okoth Obado, who has been accused of murdering Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby, will know today if he will continue serving time at Industrial Area remand prison or be released on bail.
Judge Jessie Lessit will at 9am make her ruling on Okoth Obado and his other accused's bail applications.
The second term governor together with his personal assistant and Migori County clerk have spent more than a month in remand prison in connection with the murder of Sharon Otieno who has since been buried.
The governor was taken into custody on September 21. He also spent some days in Kenyatta National Hospital's private wing after falling ill in remand prison.
The first attempt at being freed on bail failed on September 27 after Jessie Lessit ruled that the safety of the witnesses could not be guaranteed with the governor roaming freely in Migori County. The judge also cited the volatile situation in Migori County for her ruling.
Cliff Ombeta who is representing the governor had earlier argued in court that there were no compelling reasons to keep holding the governor in custody since the prosecution couldn't prove that the governor would harm witnesses if freed.
