Single parenthood continues to be a thorn in the flesh of Kenya's moral fabric. Some voluntary, some not, many parents (mostly women) now take care of their children alone. Sassy presenter Betty Kyallo took a chance to throw a barb at deadbeat parents (her case included).

Sonko's Nominee For Environment Scored D+ From Loreto, Doesn't Know Dandora Dumpsite Location

Governor Mike Sonko's nominee for the position of Environment County Executive Committee member had a hard time explaining to members of the Committee on Appointments why she scored a D+ in her KCSE exams that she sat for at Loreto Convent Msongari.
Sonia Birdi told the members of county assembly that the D+ on her KCSE certificate was not a failure. She further sought to convince them that it was what she was bringing to the table that really mattered and she wouldn't have applied for the job if she knew she wouldn't deliver.
The former nominated member of parliament was declared hostile when she refused to answer some questions. When asked why she did not produce her degree certificate, she claimed that it was stolen when her house was broken into during her time in the United Kingdom.
The former URP member of parliament does not know the location of Dandora Dumpsite, the source of Nairobi River and its length. Such questions, according to her, were insulting and she warned the members of the committee that they stop asking her such questions because she is not a student.
Majority Leader Abdi Guyo asked her to explain her conduct at the Gilgil Weighbridge when she was in the company of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter on January 24, 2015. The two had stormed the weighbridge to demand for the release of their trucks that had been impounded.

The Leadership and Integrity chapter of the Constitution states that a state officer shall carry out duties of the office in a manner that maintains public confidence in the integrity of the office.

Sonia Birdi denied ever shouting at the bridge and even dared Abdi Guyo to produce video evidence that she acted in a manner that compromised her integrity. She refused to comment further on the issue saying it was still in court.
Asked about her marital status, Sonia Birdi claimed that she was not married because no man had proposed to her.

Kenyan Influencers Sell Their Souls To Always At The Expense Of Fellow Women

It only took a weekend getaway at the Fairmont Mount Kenya for a group of selfish influencers to thwart the gains made by ordinary women in their fight and demand for the supply of better quality products by Always manufacturer, P&G Kenya.
The influencers include Sharon Kate Ng'ang'a, Nancie Mwai, Mbeka, Wanjiru Njiru, Geek on Fashion, among others.
Some time back, Kenyan women got online to complain about sanitary pads put out in the market by Always. Through the hashtag #MyAlwaysExperience, the women voiced their concerns ranging from the fact that the pads are scented, caused irritation and rashes, caused major discomfort and swellings.
A social media user by the name Gatwiri says that the rashes caused by Always pads take weeks to heal.

Always has largely ignored these concerns and complaints, often telling the women to send them DMs and not acting upon the sent DMs.

In a bizarre move by Always, they started a counter hashtag, #FeelTheComfort, and even got a number of influencers to push it. The influencers were paid in the form of a getaway to Fairmont Mount Kenya.
In the photos posted by the influencers, there were a number of Kenyan women who called them out for pushing misleading information when it was pretty obvious that they were not regular users of the products that are in question.

Their responses to the complaints were quite robotic and many suspected that their social media handles were being handled by Always staff.

Women Beware! Self Confessed Rapist Roams Free In University of Nairobi

Law students, class of 2019, in the University of Nairobi have voiced their concerns over the utterances and actions of one of their own who has been on the loose harassing his female counterparts and demanding for sεx from them.
In screenshots shared by one of the students in the class, Mercy Boit, the group conversation in the their WhatsApp group paints the picture of male bullies and women under siege and helpless from the sεxual advances of men like Yuchi.

During an interview with Kenyatta University TV, she spoke of an event that happened to her in 2003 when she was in form three. In that interview, she reveals without knowing that she was 17 years at that time.

Nairobi Hospital Extends Suspension Of Its CEO

The board of Nairobi Hospital has made the decision to extend the suspension of embattled CEO Gordon Odundo as the battle for the control of one of Kenya's most prestigious medical facility hits its third month.
A letter seen by Daily Updates Africa and sent by board chairman John Simba to the CEO stated that the board had decided to extend his suspension to April 13.

Your leave expires on March 13 and the board at its meeting on February 25 approved your compulsory leave be extended to April 13.

 We contacted Gordon Odundo for a comment but he had not responded at the time of going to press. At the center of the boardroom boards are multi million projects and the billions generated annually by the hospital in revenue.
The most recent multi-billion project by the hospital is Anderson Centre, a 12-storey building including a convention centre with a 400-seat auditorium and a massive kitchen block.
Just last month, a group of senior doctors and members of the Kenya Hospital Association that comprises 1,800 members, who own the hospital purged the board of some of its members during a meeting.
The CEO is said to have been standing in the way a certain board member who wanted his company to supply the hospital with insurance services and in the end he earned his suspension. He is the biggest casualty so far.

32 Kenyans Perish In Ethiopian Airlines Crash

Kenya is the nation hardest hit by the Ethiopian Airlines #ET302 flight that crashed moments after takeoff from Addis Ababa. The plane was flying to Nairobi in a regular scheduled flight. Out of 157 that perished, 32 were Kenyans.

Ethiopian Airlines report that the captain of the illfated flight reported to Air Traffic Control that he was having difficulty and wanted to return to Addis. He was given clearance but the plane did not make it back to Addis.

Ethiopian Airlines Crashes On Its Way To Nairobi

An Ethiopian Airlines jet crashed on its way to Nairobi from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday morning, the airline has confirmed. Daily Updates Africa can confidently ascertain that there were 149 passengers and 8 crew on board.
Earlier on before the airline released its statement, the office of the prime minister Abiy Ahmed reported the unfortunate incident and condoled with friends and family of the victims. The office did not give further details.
