South Sudanese Tycoon, Lawrence Malong Lual Nabbed, Remanded In Uganda Over Scam

The flamboyant tycoon was unable to buy Ugandan authorities and ended up in Luzira Prison remand section. Uganda.

Along with two accomplices, the businessman was connected to a scam in which he obtained money by false pretence.

He was captured together with a Congolese broker- Mike Okitalunyi Lota and Thaddeus Zikusooka- a businessman.

The businessman is well known for his flamboyant photos in which he flaunts dollars to the public.

Unconfirmed reports recently showed him donating truckloads of food to drought hit Turkana.

Arraigned at a magistrate court, they denied the offence and remanded to prison until April 4 when their case will be heard once again.

Kenyan Woman Ferrying Kids In Car Boot Caught By NTSA

Some time ago, a disturbing picture hit the interwebs. It was of a car ferrying a ton of kids in its boot somewhere in Kenya. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) now report that the owner has been caught and will be arraigned in court.

Red Cross Boss Gullet Under Fire. Asked To Account For Donations

After the Turkana hunger debacle, humanitarian organization Red Cross Kenya is out to raise funds for relief efforts. Many Kenyans liken this to the Kenyans for Kenya campaign that had millions raised. However, many question how this money is being used.

Kenyans on Twitter rallied to say that they cannot be doing the work of the government each time.

Dennis Itumbi Apologizes For Itchy Fingers That Made Him Post Fake News

It is always good to verify news before you post. After Mike Sonko, in his theatrics donated food to those affected by famine in Turkana, Dennis Itumbi shared pics of Mama Rachel Ruto donating food. Problem is, these were very old pictures.

He has since apologized for the error in a long tweet to cleanse the fake news.

All signs point to an intensified hunt for those who misused government funds and particularly, the Deputy President's camp feels targeted.

The Kimwarer and Arror Dam sagas seem to have hit an especially soft spot with Kenyans shocked after the loss of about Ksh 21 billion became public.

Several news outlets continue to report that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) plans to take these cases to the very end where suspects will be prosecuted.

Barclays Issues A Statement On The Ksh17 Billion Fake Money Found Inside The Bank

The Flying Squad has recently discovered a safe inside the Barclays Bank Queens Way Branch in Nairobi. The safe is said to have been found with Ksh17 Billion in fake currency.
The police sources Daily Updates Africa talked to in confidence said that the fake money was being used by a racket to con unknowing people.
Only last month, officers from Special Crimes Prevention Unit seized a bigger amount of fake money from a house in Ruiru. Joseph Munyao and Nancy Muthoni, who were identified as prime suspects, were found with Sh32 billion in dollars and 26 pieces of fake gold.
Barclays Bank found itself in a tight spot today after people started claiming that they were part of the people conning the public. Many were quick to remind the bank that they were accused of helping NYS suspects to launder money stolen from public cofers.
The bank in a statement released to the public said that a customer who had a safe was arrested inside their bank. They only fell short of saying that they had nothing to do with the crime or the criminals.

A customer who holds a personal safe deposit box at our Queensway branch was this morning intercepted by police at the branch. Police are currently investigating the contents of his safe deposit box. We are assisting the authorities to investigate this matter fully.

Beatrice Syokau Kathumba's Body To Be Buried Finally Five Years Later

The body of a woman that has been lying inside the freezers of Machakos County mortuary for the last five years will finally be buried after a court ruling put to rest the mysteries surrounding her death.
The court stopped Beatrice Syokau Kathumba's burial two times after it emerged that she may have been killed. An inquest was then formed to look into allegations that she may have been abducted and poisoned.
 The chief magistrate Heston Nyaga ruled that he had no reasons to doubt the medical report presented in court that showed Beatrice Syokua Kathumba died a natural death at the Kenyatta National Hospital on July 4, 2014.

They concurred on the findings of her death. The evidence of yet another doctor confirmed that Syokau was a long time patient. Nobody can be held responsible for her death.

Heston Nyaga asked the parties involved to let the dead rest in peace saying that many parties had been enjoined in case believing that the deceased owned a piece of land in Embakasi Estate, Nairobi near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport valued at billions.

Was Turkana Famine Avoidable? What We Know So Far

Kenyans watched in horror as more pictures of the suffering due to famine in Turkana appeared online. Anger, sorrow and confusion mixed to create a hostile environment for Kenya's leaders (especially those from the county). Daily Updates quotes a source that believes it is all intentional.

Famine is extreme scarcity of food.

While the Northern Frontier counties are categorized as arid and semi arid, government claims to balance out the hardship by dishing out bigger budgets.

If this is so, how do people still die of hunger?

It is expected that as soon as residents report extreme scarcity of food, the government through chiefs and sub chiefs will give out relief food.

This is at least the most sensible thing to do.

This clearly did not happen.

Through these tweets, we see a pattern of suggestions that show the famine is intentional.

Someone somewhere gave out fake seed, or did not complete the irrigation project in time or even stole the relief food and sold it.

So far, the county has reported nine deaths resulting from the famine.
