Samia Suluhu Hassan Sworn In As Sixth President Of Tanzania

Samia Suluhu Hassan Sworn In As Sixth President Of Tanzania

The United Republic of Tanzania has just handed East Africa its first female president after Samia Suluhu Hassan took oath as the sixth president of the nation.

Wearing a red hijab, Samia Suluhu Hassan made history in an event that was witnessed by two former presidents.

She will now lead 58 million Tanzanians beaten by a pandemic that has left havoc in its wake killing thousands and wearing out the nation's healthcare system.

The 61 year old inspected a military parade and received a cannon salute from men in uniform she will command for the next five years, and possibly beyond.

Samia Suluhu Hassan takes over after the death of John Pombe Magufuli, a bulldozer who sought to end corruption in government and put his people first before being clipped by a virus he handled in a different way from other heads of state.

Many are eager to see what path the president from Zanzibar will take in her tackling of corona virus. Her predecessor had vowed not to procure vaccines until local experts had deemed the vaccines safe for Tanzanians.

Personal Health: What To Ask About Endometriosis

Personal Health: What To Ask About Endometriosis

Njambi Koikai, a 32 year old TV and radio personality based in Nairobi, had a promising career in the Kenyan media industry before a health condition brought her to her knees and on the verge of death.

Njambi had endured 18 painful years of endometriosis before her lungs collapsed and had to travel to the United States of America for specialized treatment.

She majorly depended on well wishers to fund the costly medical procedures and at the end of it all had no job to cover her recovery process or pay her bills.

Janet Mbugua

She is not alone. A number of famous people in Kenya like journalist Janet Mbugua and comedian Zulekha have also shared their experiences with endometriosis. But there are thousands of others without a platform going through the worst.

Many women in the country are going through untold suffering in the hands of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue similar to that lining the uterine cavity(endometrium)develops in another part of the body outside the uterine cavity.

According to medical specialists we talked to, 10 - 15 percent of all women within the reproductive stage and 70 percent of women with a history of chronic pelvic pain are at risk of developing endometriosis.

Signs and Symptoms

The condition expresses itself in the form of pelvic pain (more intense before the menstrual flow then reduces as the flow resolves), crampy abdominal pain during s3xual intercourse, crampy abdominal pain during bowel movement/urination, infertility, constipation, bloody urine, irregular or heavy menstrual flow, chest pain/coughing blood in case of migration to the lungs and headache/convulsions in case of migration to the brain.

Pain severity cannot be used as a measuring parameter of the endometriosis extent. One may have an advanced endometriosis but with little or no pain at all while in other case one may have extreme pain but with a mild endometriosis.

Causes of Endometriosis

Endometriosis may be caused by accidental migration of the endometrial  cells via blood vessels or lymphatic vessels to other parts of the body, and scarring due to surgery e.g C-S or hysterectomy.

Retrograde menstruation- whereby blood flows backwards with endometrial cells through Fallopian tube into the pelvic cavity hence growing outside the uterus is also a cause.

Immune system disorders that may lead into failure of recognition of foreign endometrial cells hence failure in destroying them and accidental peritoneal cells transformation by hormones or immune factors are also causes.

Risk Factors for Endometriosis

Heavy menstrual flow that lasts more than seven days, short menstrual cycle less than twenty seven days, not giving birth, menstrual flow beginning early (in age), late menopause, extremely high estrogen levels in the body or exposure, low body mass, and Genetics(family history of endometriosis).

Diagnosis

According to the physicians we talked to, Endometriosis may be identified through history taking of the patient/physical examination together with diagnostic modalities such as abdominal/transvagiπal ultrasound. This modality may identify cysts associated with endometriosis though it may not give definite signs of endometriosis and Laparoscopy which shows signs of the endometrial tissues outside the uterine cavity.

Treatment

Endometriosis can be managed by drugs majorly hormonal therapy or by surgery. The choice of treatment will be guided by the severity of the patient's endometriosis.

Complications

Complications that may arise from endometriosis include fertility problems e.g infertility or subfertility, and Cancer e.g ovarian cancer or adenocarcinoma.

How International Media Reported The Death Of John Pombe Magufuli

How International Media Reported The Death Of John Pombe Magufuli

The death of the fifth president of Tanzania is making international headlines with many of the international media reporting on it choosing to focus on his infamous denial of the coronavirus.

The death comes after two weeks of speculation about his whereabouts when he stopped making public appearances.

The speculations about the death of John Pombe Magufuli were fueled by opposition leader Tundu Lissu who went on Twitter to claim the life of the president was in danger after he suffered a stroke.

This declaration by the opposition leader came days before the government of Tanzania formally gave any update on the health of the president.

Here's how the news was reported after the vice president (now president) made the death announcement.

John Pombe Magufuli Won Many Battles For Tanzania Except Covid

John Pombe Magufuli Won Many Battles For Tanzania Except Covid

The late president of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli, took over the nation from a meek Jakaya Kikwete and set his countrymen on the warpath against foreign influence and corrupt government officials.

He was widely seen as a man of the people with his populist decrees that got him wide admiration from neighboring countries.

John Pombe Magufuli rarely traveled abroad, instead choosing to delegate such duties to members of his cabinet in a bid to slash government spending.

He was also very critical of loans from Western and Asian countries and was reported to have cancelled some loans his predecessors had secured for improvement of infrastructure.

President Magufuli was also known to be extremely volatile with how he handled disputes with neighbors, especially Kenya. Many a times, Kenya Airways has found itself banned from the Tanzanian airspace due to diplomatic tussles.

At the height of the covid pandemic when Kenya closed her borders, Tanzania went above and beyond to frustrate Kenyan truck drivers at the Namanga border.

It remains to be seen how far the damage caused by his handling of the pandemic will go.

As a result of him denying the existence of the virus in Tanzania, many Tanzanians without the resources to seek healthcare abroad lost their lives.

In the months leading to his death, covid struck very close to Pombe Magufuli, with the virus ravaging through his cabinet and circle of close friends.

Even in the face of death, the president refused to change his mind on how to handle the virus and urged the ministry of health not to put into place plans to purchase vaccines for the masses.

John Pombe Magufuli Is Dead, Here's What We Know So Far

John Pombe Magufuli Is Dead, Here's What We Know So Far

The vice president of Tanzania has just announced the passing of 61 year old John Pombe Magufuli due to heart related complications.

This announcement brings to an end weeks of speculations about the whereabouts of the president of the East African nation.

The president made international news headlines when he declared that Tanzania would not enter into a lock-down to contain the coronavirus pandemic. His Ugandan and Kenyan counterparts had moved fast to lock down major cities to slow down cases in their respective countries.

John Pombe Magufuli then went ahead to stop the tally of reported cases in Tanzania. Hospitals also started writing "breathing complications" and "pneumonia" as causes of death during the same period.

During the same period, wearing of masks and social distancing was not mandatory in Tanzania. Some Tanzanian citizens reported being harassed by the police for wearing masks. They were accused of attempting to cause panic.

President Magufuli also made clear his skepticism about the dangers of the virus. He urged Tanzanians to regularly steam themselves in herbal medicine to avoid contracting the virus.

The president was seen on numerous occasions attending the funerals of those who had died of corona related complications. At no such times did he wear a mask.

Beneath Poverty And Drug Abuse, Gabiro Mtu Necessary Is A Lyrical Force

Beneath Poverty And Drug Abuse, Gabiro Mtu Necessary Is A Lyrical Force

Starting out as a traditional band member back in 2013, Gabiro Mtu Necessary drew his earliest inspirations from the likes of Octopizzo, Lucky Dube, Khuli Chana, Juliani and a host of others.

Having had a brief spell at Maseno University studying Finance and later Android and Cellular Software development before he dropped out in his third year to pursue a career in music.

Gabiro was always in touch with his music which spurred him to write his 1st song in 2014 titled Story. The song went on to bag him an award at the prestigious Tecno Vybez Awards that same year.

He later got back to studio and released another single, “Naitwa Gabiro.” During this time, he met the talented producer, Malique and together, they created a new direction for Gabiro’s music and released the hit single, Ujumbe.

In the same year, a number of collaborations were released by Gabiro and within few months of their release, the songs gained massive airplay on radio and in clubs.

As a result of the success of the singles and collaborations a household name came into being, Mtu Necessary.

He is steadily building a reputation as Kisumu’s best lyricist, and also shares his personal struggles through his art. From working as a matatu tout to battling drug abuse, Gabiro’s ability to tell stories separates him from rap music's status quo.

Hip-hop inspired me to persevere and self-educate myself. When I was going through it, the thing that held me down was an old computer at my uncle’s place that I stored thousands of downloaded beats in. That’s why I’m so loyal to the cause and loyal to the culture. I feel like I owe it to Hip-hop to do the best I can.

While many rappers tell us their story, Gabiro possesses the ability to bring you into his world and show it to you. Perhaps his most notable song, Story, is a story of stories that happen in real life but are often ignored. This song discusses bullying, police shootings, drug abuse and political injustice.

Gabiro's diversity has seen him transition from not only being a rapper but also the best lyricist as is evident on his current releases, Bad Girl Loving and Kus Kus.

He has worked with both young and well-known artists across the globe in both musical and non-musical collaborations including and not limited to Kidis, Wyre, Ketchup,Owuor Arunga and most recently the new gengetone crew Kavirondo Gang.

Currently Gabiro has a new EP; MPITO featuring singer Asen B that has cumulatively gained more than 500,000 streams on various digital platforms.

Editor's Note:

Viagra Has A Higher Body Count Than The Kenyan Men Using It, Is It Dangerous?

Viagra Has A Higher Body Count Than The Kenyan Men Using It, But Is It As Dangerous?

Viagra is a drug covered in mystery, admired and frowned upon by Kenyan men in equal measure.

The blue pill is a man's best kept secret, often bought from the chemist under the cover of darkness.

Many late politicians, some very powerful, in the country are also rumored to have succumbed to the drug in a bid to bite more than they could chew. But what exactly is Sildenafil?

Sildenafil is a medication used to stimulate er3ctioπ in men with er3ctile dysfunction. This medication is supposed to be taken under the instructions of your physician.

People with heart conditions or with recent history of stroke may experience adverse complications when they take it.

Normally er3ction occurs when peπile nerves are stimulated. The peπile nerves then sends signals to the brain which then makes the peπile tissues to relax.

Blood then flows to the peπile tissues with the ultimate outcome of the p3πis eloπgating/thickeπing and becoming firm to enable vagiπal peπ3tratioπ.

Sildenafil therefore works by relaxing the walls of the peπile blood vessels therefore facilitating easy flow of blood in them resulting in er3ction. One will however need to be arous3d s3xua11y for his penis to start erecting.

How long does it take for it's action to start? On average it takes thirty minutes to sixty minutes for it's effects to start being experienced. Its effects on average starts diminishing gradually two hours to four hours after taking it.

Some of the side effects that one may experience after taking it include Headache, Nasal congestion, Dizziness, Strained vision, Indigestion and Priapism (an overly prolonged painful er3ctioπ that may damage the peπis)

Mingling Professionalism And ShowBiz: How Betty Kyallo Speaks To The New Era

Mingling Professionalism And Show Business: How Betty Kyallo Speaks To The New Era

Battered by age but unbowed, Kenya's most controversial yet most beloved journalist has refused to crumble under the weight of everything her predecessors couldn't handle and is back on your screens like she never left.

Betty Kyallo wrings the utmost out of each experience so quickly and so easily just for the kick at the end of it all and this is why she’s come to be liked by all who live through her adventures.

The bag is not new to Betty when something new is always waiting on the horizon to be experienced and all her detractors tear at her sight on some new ventures all over the gram.

‘Finished’ Betty now looks younger than prime time news Betty and promises it’s all in the genes and hydration much to the chagrin of her wall bound disciples and sour graped opposition.

Betty may well be on her way to picking the baton from Sheila Mwanyigha if ever that woman hands it over. In her ever teasing blue get up, Betty broke to the loyals that she’ll be reuniting with them in no time on TV for another wicked ride into the sunset.

Mingling Professionalism And Show Business: How Betty Kyallo Speaks To The New Era
Betty Kyallo's New Show

This announcement had the splitting effect with many gunning for the good old days of Betty on Friday while some probed for the possibility of a new segment to accommodate her eternal presence.

Her days on the big screen were fruitful and alluring enough to warrant her own segment every Friday night in what became the liveliest broadcast aired at such an hour when only mediocrity flooded the airwaves.

Love came at her and she took it unflinchingly like the baddie we know she is, enterprise and glow came soon after that. Betty was now in the upper echelon brushing shoulders and raising bottoms with the elite from all classes of affluence.

A brief stint on the set of K24 followed by her walking out looked to have sealed all hope for a Kyallo return to TV.

Not one to draw out suffering or joy she has moved on decently on to the next without much as a breakdown that was expected by all in the green corner and Chokora twitter showed her the ropes accepting her as their own. All her interactions on the bird app have demonstrated that she really can thrive in chaos and peddles violence when needed.

Kyallo is now set to make a return with longtime prankster and king of comedy in Africa with a game show, something for Kenyans all over to bond over in these tiring times of poor programming content.

The two have been coy and clamoring all over each other’s instas in the past and that has paid off with the broadcasting corp electing to milk the chemistry for something never seen before.

Eric Omondi’s recent arrest and charging with distribution of an unrated, unlicensed film during filming for the second season of his successful series, Wife Material, when the contestants went off script and into unarmed combat triggered by underhand comments from an unseen party looks to set up a thick and steady flow of viewership.

Controversy chaos and scene are guaranteed when Betty steps into the light flanked by Eric Omondi. This time you have fair warning and should be ready for the flight of Betty.
