No Can't Do. High Court Stops Mass Head Teacher Transfers

After an uproar over the mass transfer of headteachers initiated by the Teacher Service Commision, the High Court has come to the rescue.
The massive transfer had already affected 31 principals of national schools who were moved to new institutions.
The High Court sitting in Kisumu has stopped the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) from effecting the transfers of secondary school teachers across the country.

The order was issued by Justice David Majanja in the case that the TSC and Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i had been sued.

“Leave granted do operate as a stay to the directive to TSC to effect a mass transfer of secondary school principals across the country,” said Justice Majanja.

During the last week , the employer transferred a total of 557 head teachers of secondary and primary schools.

A total of over 130 vacant positions at the county schools have also been filled in the transfer exercise while 19 heads were moved at the technical institutions.

Update>>>The case has since been referred to the Labour Relations Court. The High Court says it has no jurisdiction.

Four Years Later, Where Are KCPE 2013 Top Ten Candidates?

After the release of the 2017 KCSE results by Education CS, Fred Matiangi, all outlets splashed news on how the girl child had performed better. This came as a realization that gender should not matter in performance and tailored curricula should make it possible for any student to perform well.
When top students gain admission into the top secondary schools, we assume that it should be the same four years later when they sit for their KCSE.
In 2013, the top performing students in KCPE were;

Brian Kimutai (Stewards Light School, Nandi) – 444
Otieno Akoth (Golden Elite Premier, Kisumu) – 444
Uniter Riziki (Kathigiri B, Meru) – 442
Boera Felix (Vitale HGM, Makueni) – 442

This means you have to be one special student to appear in both.
Consistency.

Exclusive: Miguna Miguna To Be Assassinated By Police On December 28th

Miguna miguna assassination destroyer esther passaris raila odinga

The self proclaimed National Resistance 5-Star general Miguna Miguna has alleged a plot by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome to assassinate him on 28th of December.

The lawyer who cited a confidential individual within the ranks of the police as his source also revealed the names of the six assassins hired to kill him.

Miguna Miguna also had a message for the world as he revealed the plot to kill him. He is not afraid of his assassins.
The lawyer claims he is being targeted for assassination for his role in the push to have Raila Odinga sworn in as the people's president. He is one of the most vocal supporters of Raila Odinga and the fiercest critic of Uhuru Kenyatta and his government.
He was recently stopped from accessing Raila Odinga's hotel and was apparently detained for more than 4 hours in Mombasa by police despite being part of governor Joho's official motorcade. He blasted the media for not covering the incident.

The Teachers Service Commission is finally implementing what many in the education sector thought was a mere threat and not implementable, massive transfer of school heads to enhance cohesion.

The Teachers Service Commission is finally implementing what many in the education sector thought was a mere threat and not implementable, massive transfer of school heads to enhance cohesion.
Many Headteachers have received their transfer letters and those who are yet to do so will receive them in the course of this month.
The Headteachers being targeted are those who have been at the helm of their respective schools for more than nine years.
They are expected to report to their new stations of work in January as the new terms begin.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers has opposed the move saying the delocalization of leadership of schools as currently envisaged by Teachers Service Commission is unacceptable.
The Teachers Service Commission through its chief executive Nancy Macharia said that the delocalization is part of the implementation of the CBA.
She also said the commission plans to employ more than ten thousand teachers per year for the next 5 years.
Nancy Macharia asked all the affected school heads to liaise with their respective county directors to ensure they settle by January 2018.
They will also be required to spearhead the implementation of free secondary education program slated for next year.
The education sector is currently undergoing massive reconstitutions in all aspects from a change in education system, to new education qualification requirements for teachers to stringent supervision of national exams.

Professor Magoha Declares Exam Leakage A Thing Of The Past

KCSE Results 2017 how to check results

The Kenya National Examinations Council Boss Professor Magoha has declared exams cheating a thing of the past in Kenya national examinations.
He was speaking during the release of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams results by Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday at Nairobi School.
The former vice chancellor of University of Nairobi reiterated that it was shameful for some teachers to aid students in cheating saying we all owe ourselves and God the truth. Consequently, 40 teachers are facing deregistration over irregularities.
Professor Magoha asked his workmates at KNEC to ensure that the country does not slide back into exam leakage after he moves on from the commission.
At the same event, he opened up about not wanting the KNEC job saying he thought it was not meant for him. He went around Africa to benchmark on their examinations systems. He has since found the job of serving children the most fulfilling yet.
Kenya has been marred with exam leakage over the years but the vice shot up acutely during the reign of Professor Jacob Kaimenyi at the education ministry. So bad was the cheating that nearly the entire country had access to all papers before they were sat for.
After a public outcry, it forced the president to shake up the education sector with Professor Kaimenyi being moved to the land ministry. Many high ranking officials at the Mtihani House were also fired. The new team that took over has made radical changes whose impacts are being witnessed today.
