In the call, the president of the free world sought to reaffirm the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. They discussed the two countries' economic partnership and mutual dedication to overcoming terrorism and other regional security challenges through close corporation.

President Trump also appreciated Kenya's activities in Somalia through the African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) and recognized the sacrifices made by the Kenyan troops in their fight against al-Shabaab.
Ways to improve bilateral trade and investment in Kenya and the East Africa region at large were also discussed. Bilateral trade between the two countries is heavily unbalanced with Kenya importing more than it exports to the United States. The call lasted for 30 minutes.Both countries are politically heated right now with Kenya heading into an election and the United States grappling with scandals involving Russia and the CIA hacking files released by Wikileaks.
The issue deportation of immigrants did not come up during the phone call  even as Trump plans to sign a new anti-immigration law that will make it hard for non-US citizens to travel to the US.

A section of the Kenyan media has reported that her return to the country from the United States was a result of unclear circumstances. She has not been accessible for comment.

She recently uploaded a video telling a story about a date gone wrong. A Kenyan celebrity, whose name she refused to mention, asked her out but couldn't pay the bill. The said celebrity a rather expensive hotel (name withheld by Elodie) and ends up having to ask the poor girl to pay the bill for both of them.
The story is delivered in the usual funny, unique Elodie style. But there is a catch. She says she had no cash on her at that moment. What saved her from "Kuchonga viazi" is an app. A certain mobile banking app recently launched by a local bank. The way the whole story is blended by the app saving the day is rather too smooth to be believed, at least going by the netizens' sentiments.

Not all bought the story. People who watched the video barely had anything kind to say about it. Furthermore, she dropped the download link of the app in the description.

The Kakamega gubernatorial seat so far is having five aspirants inclusive of the incumbent Hon Wycliffe Oparanya. The other four are senator Boni Khalwale Suleiman Sumba,Amukowa Anangwe and Mabel-UK based lady who decamped from ANC to Jubilee citing frustrations in the former.

Despite the seat having attracted the four entrants, the contest is viewed as a two-horse one i.e between the incumbent Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya and Dr. Boni Khalwale.Khalwale who is the senator for Kakamega county and former MP for Ikolomani constituency is banking on his two clans - Isukha and Idakho while Oparanya the incumbent and who hails from Butere is banking on his clan - the Wanga. On Khalwale's side he is advantaged by the fact that, from his clan there's no one competing him unlike Oparanya who is facing competition from Sumba and Anangwe who are Awanga. Khalwale seems to be enjoying support from some constituencies like Lurambi as Oparanya banks on his incumbency.

Kakamega county is made up of the following constituencies: Malava, Khwisero, Mumias East, Mumias West, Matungu, Lurambi, Navakholo, Ikolomani, Shinyalu, Lugari, Butere and Likuyani. Oparanya who has the support of Navakholo and Malava MPs and some MCAs is using his development record to woo voters. He has initiated projects like Oparanya care which aims at helping the delivering mothers,he has the support of ECDE teachers and some primary teachers,he has lodged the construction of Kakamega level four hospital which will be kicking on very soon,he has improved roads under the county government and Dr. Khalwale is banking on his record as the county senator with the support of some MPs. Khalwale who is seen as a crowd-puller is being a fierce threat to Oparanya as he is very vocal.

The two contestants are in the same coalition - NASA but in different affiliation parties i.e Ford-Kenya and ODM with Khalwale as the deputy party leader for Ford-Kenya and Oparanya for ODM respectively. Oparanya seem to be advantaged by  the fact that ODM has a strong base in the county as compared to Ford-Kenya which has a weak one. With six months remaining to general elections, the two are on the vote-hunt in the county but the decision on who to be the governor is in the hands of the electorate.
