Vanity! Mike Sonko To Rename Pumwani Maternity Hospital After Himself
Nairobi City county governor Mike Sonko has come up with a plan he feels will be a permanent solution to the perennial problems Kenya's biggest maternity referral hospital face. Part of the solution is to rename the hospital to Sonko Pumwani Maternal Hospital.
In a statement released on Friday, Mike Sonko announced that his county government will partner with the Aga Khan University Hospital and Nairobi Hospital in an ambitious project that will see the maternity hospital transformed into a 10-storey 450 bed capacity hospital.
Sonko announced that their partnership has yielded an agreement that will see the Aga Khan University Hospital providing additional doctors, nurses and other hospital staff over a period of two years at no cost.
The new complex which will be built near the old building will compose of a pediatric ICU, an adult ICU, an HDU, staff quarters, a laundry unit and all other facilities that modern hospitals have. He also said the new facility will have the capacity to provide services such as immunization programs, surgeries, inpatient services, diagnosis services among others.
Earlier on, Sonko led a televised raid on the hospital and allegedly unearthed dead bodies that been hidden in carton boxes.
He claimed there was a human trafficking racket in the hospital and went as far as dissolving the hospital's board. His county executive for health was also suspended amid allegations of undermining the governor's authority.
He later on donated coolers to the hospital that are now being used to hold dead bodies in a temporary capacity while transportation to City Mortuary is planned.

You Can Now Watch Rafiki! Ezekiel Mutua Is Humiliated By High Court
The High Court in Nairobi has temporarily lifted the ban imposed, by Kenya Film Classification Board, on Rafiki for seven days. During this time, the creators of Rafiki have been allowed to screen the film to willing adults.
Delivering his judgement, Justice Wilfrida Okwany brought to light the fact that many Kenyans have had to flee the country for going against the grain that is societal expectations.
The film had been banned by the Ezekiel Mutua led board for promoting lesbianism. The film is about two teenage girls who develop a romantic relationship despite being opposed by family and their community.
With this ruling in place, it means that Kenyans can finally watch the internationally loved film that they couldn't watch. Most importantly, this means that the film is now illegible for an Oscar nomination.
The director, writer and co-producer of the film, Ms Wanuri Kahiu sued the board because she couldn't submit the film as Kenya's entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category with the ban in place.
Woman Roughs Up Friend In Church After Pastor Points Fingers
A woman in South Africa decided she could not wait when she harassed a friend after the pastor said the friend was the cause of all her problems. Africa has recently seen a rise in crazy dramas either done by pastors or by the congregation.
South Africa has especially taken the limelight after a pastor in Limpopo area gave his congregation Jik bleach to drink. What is crazy is that the members actually drank the bleach because it was from the servant of God.
Here's the video;
The video has an even hilarious commentary as a woman explains what is happening.A fight broke out in a church in South Africa when the pastor told a woman that her best friend who was standing beside her is the cause of her problems. #ghlinks pic.twitter.com/aeKdDSVaYY— Eugene Nyavor (@iamghlinks) September 19, 2018

Establish Dominance! Why Redsan Beat Up Sappy To A Pulp
Redsan is one of the few last OGs that remain standing in the music industry and messing up with him will land you in trouble whether you know it or not. Producer Sappy is a living witness of this situation.
An audio recording that was released by Sappy's camp suggested that Redsan invaded Sappy's offices and started beating him up. Everybody thought it was a stunt to publicize his album until they saw Sappy lying on a hospital bed with a broken lip.
It turns out that Sappy was the reason why Redsan failed to release his album on his album launch day! Sappy refused to hand over the album to Redsan because he claims Redsan refused to honor some promises made.
Redsan had allegedly promised to tag Sappy on every interview he would hold during the entire time he was hyping the show. Redsan had also agreed to get Sappy a good deal with Sony Music. Redsan is signed to Sony Music. This did not also materialize.
Sappy had reportedly worked on that album for four years and was producing it for free in the hopes that he would be given royalties.
When Redsan realized that his phone calls were not being picked by Sappy, he did what real gangsters do, pull up on Sappy.
The Tanzanian produced was caught offguard and had no kind words for Redsan whom he told that his phone was his phone and he could receive or ignore any calls at his own pleasure. This is where things turned sour.
From the audio you can hear hot slaps flying around and screams.
Murder! Migori Governor Okoth Obado Arrested Over The Murder Of Sharon Otieno
The governor of Migori County has been arrested by detectives and is currently being grilled at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Nairobi for his role in the abduction, murder and disposal of Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby in a forest in Homa Bay County.
The governor, his wife and son have been prominently mentioned in the most gruesome and high profile murder this year so far.
The governor's wife Hellen Obado has also been questioned by the detectives investigating the murder and was later released.
Governor Obado had earlier held a press conference in Nairobi's Serena Hotel to state that he had nothing to do with the murder. He has however publicly confessed through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta that he was in a relationship with the late.
DNA results have also confirmed that the baby Sharon Otieno was carrying was sired by governor Okoth Obado.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
Mesothelioma Survival Rates And What You Need To Know
Mesothelioma, also known as malignant mesothelioma is a kind of cancer that affects the layer of tissue that encloses many of our internal organs. Four out of five cases of mesothelioma are as a result of exposure to asbestos, which has been known to contain carcinogens.
Asbestos is a substance that occurs in nature and was once common in construction because it's fibres are resistant to heat, corrosion and electricity. However, scientific research has shown that the substance is hazardous and can cause mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Lining of Lungs and Chest Wall
The cancer commonly affects the lining of the lungs and chest wall and is characterized by a swollen abdomen, shortness of breath, fatigue, weight loss among other symptoms. The symptoms are not sudden and will advance slowly.
Most cases reported were among people who work with asbestos, live in houses built with asbestos and had considerable exposure to the material.
According to Wikipedia, by 2013 over 100 million people were exposed to asbestos at work.
Survival Rates of Mesothelioma
Tiny asbestos fibres are hard to see and often imperceptible to our senses. Therefore, once we are exposed, it takes time for the symptoms to be seen. When the asbestos fibres enter our bodies, the body is unable to expel them as they cannot dissolve. Collection over years is what cause damage to the cells.
Malignant mesothelioma is a serious diagnosis and is hard to treat, which increases the chance of fatality.
Cisplatin and pemetrexed combined in chemotherapy constitutes the standard procedure in caring for mesothelioma patients. Scientists continue to conduct clinical trials of other treatments that may offer better efficiency in handling the condition.
There have been developments in radiation and surgical approaches, but the likely course of the conditions has not significantly improved over the past few decades.
It Is Finished. Uhuru Makes Finance Bill 2018 Into Law
The finance bill 2018 is now law after President Uhuru Kenyatta appended his signature on it. After a controversial #TaxVoteKe yesterday, where some legislators walked out, the bill was still passed.
Kenyans now prepare to bear the costs of the new taxes introduced and the multiplier effect that will follow.

Esther Passaris Attacked By Kenyans For Voting For The Fuel Tax
The irony of someone who got into public office by claiming she lit up Nairobi streets supporting a bill that will make it even harder for those streetlights to stay on because of the impending rise in electricity bills.
By choosing not to attend the parliament session on Thursday and instead travel abroad, the Nairobi City County women representative Esther Passaris directly contributed to the passing of Uhuru Kenyatta's proposals that will see Kenyans bear the burden of over-taxation.
She took to Twitter to say that her stand was that there should be 0% VAT on fuel products. She even suggested that the vote had been predetermined and her presence in the house would not have helped much with the situation.
Kenyans were not convinced with her explanations and many put her to task on why she conveniently decided to travel out of the country on the day of the vote.In the midst of all the rhetoric, I pray the cry of the People supersedes the noise and guides today's vote. It was not always going to be like that.
He had a dream
Shiti had a dream, and it came to first step fulfilment when he was cast for The Real Househelps of Kawangware, a TV show in one of the local Kenyan channels.
Although he was set to only appear in five episodes, the love he generated in the show's faithful led to the creation of a permanent spot for him.
His videos make their way to social media and are shared numerous times, because of that special thing they have: uniqueness.

Kenyan Regrets Voting For Uhuru Kenyatta
A sad Kenyan has gone on Twitter to express regret for voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Vice President William Ruto.

BREAKING: Evans Kidero Nabbed By Police Again
Former Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero has been arrested yet again. Police and anti-corruption detectives apprehended him at around 11.30am on Thursday morning.
This comes after Kidero was arrested earlier over graft claims but released later on bail pending investigations.
The detectives camped at his house in Muthaiga as they searched for documents and cash believed to link the governor to corrupt deals during his term as the Governor of Nairobi.
From 2 am in the morning, the investigators from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision (EACC) arrived at his house as they searched for the documents.
Kidero protested that it was "pure harassment" and that he was innocent. He also added that it was not an arrest but he was to assist with the investigation.
The former governor is linked with graft in the Mumias Sugar company collapse and deals during his tenure at County Hall.
Mr Kidero was first arrested on August 8, 2018, and no solid evidence was produced enough to warrant his prosecution.
The investigation has also drawn in other suspects like former Nairobi county secretary Lillian Ndegwa, Mr Mwakanongo Gregory, ex-finance officer Jimmy Mutuku Kiamba, an ex-chief executive officer in charge of finance and planning, Stephen Ogago Osiro and Mr Luke Mugo, all related to finance departments in the County government.
All the suspects are accused of conspiring to commit fraud of 213 million shillings between 2014 and 2016.

It Was Obado's Baby : DNA 99.9% Confirms
All doubts are now settled and rumours quashed as government DNA experts confirmed that Migori governor, Okoth Obado fathered the child the late Sharon Otieno carried in her womb. This new development means that the governor is by default a key component of the investigation as some would argue that he may have had a motive.
However, as more people speculate on the involvement of the governor's wife in the whole saga, the twists and turns keep increasing as government sleuths dig further to get to the bottom of the matter.
The Rongo university student was found murdered and the postmortem report shows that the foetus died due to a knife stab among the eight that she suffered at the hands of her killers.
A police source reveals that the governor is still a person of interest and will only be cleared once the assailants are identified. The governor's personal assistant, Mr Michael Oyamo, who is still in custody is now waiting for more evidence by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
The DNA statement, read in part, "There are 99.99 pc chances that Zacharia Okoth Obado was the biological father of the donor of the DNA generated from the foetus, which was Sharon Belyne Otieno's child."
So far, three associates of Mr Obado and his wife have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder and detectives proved that the said individuals were in the company of Mr Oyamo when the abduction happened in Awendo.

Love Triangle: Did Okoth Obado's Wife Kill Sharon Otieno?
New details are coming into light as detectives go deeper into the mystery behind the gruesome murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno who at the time of her death was carrying Migori governor Okoth Obado's child.
When Hellen Obado, wife to Okoth Obado, was summoned by the department of criminal investigations detectives, many people started questioning her role in the murder of Sharon Otieno.
The public which had played judge and jury and accused governor Okoth Obado of murdering the lady to prevent her from having her baby are now having second thoughts on what could have led to the death of the seven months pregnant lady.Hellen Obado the wife of Migori governor, Okoth Obado, summoned by police to record a statement at the DCI office in Migori. https://t.co/jOj3d4xZ82 pic.twitter.com/m6FEPAf74R— NTV Kenya (@ntvkenya) September 18, 2018
As of now, Okoth Obado's personal assistant, Michael Oyamo, a bodyguard of the Obados and a clerk in the county government are in the custody of the police. All these people are said to have been very close to Hellen Obado.
Sources close to the investigations have also told Daily Updates that Hellen Obado was in constant communication with Sharon Otieno up to the time she met her death. The call records have not been made public.
The vehicle that was used to ferry Sharon Otieno to the forest from where she was raped and stabbed has been recovered. It turns out that vehicle belongs to an aide of Migori County's first lady.
Hellen Obado had earlier issued a statement saying her husband was innocent from any wrong doing and sent condolences to the family and friends of Sharon Otieno. She asked the people of Migori to remain calm and peaceful during the investigations.
Here is what people are saying on social media about the death of Sharon.

You Will Now Have To Pay Tax Every Time You Win A Bet
President Uhuru Kenyatta has drafted a memorandum on the Finance Bill 2018 that will see Kenyans being forced to dig deeper into their pockets to pay a 15 per cent excise duty on telephone and internet data services. You may even have to hire an attorney to represent you for bankruptcy.
The president is also lobbying members of parliament to approve a 12 per cent excise duty on fees charged for money transfer by mobile phone service providers. Considering more Kenyans are racking up credit bills and taking loans, this is a very delicate situation.
For the online gamblers, the taxman has finally caught up with you. You will have to part with 20 per cent of your winnings in the case that your bets turn out positive. In an unprecedented move, Uhuru Kenyatta is proposing to reduce the tax imposed on the betting firms from 35% to 15%.
Those who use Kerosene in their households are not exactly lucky either. There will be a tax imposed on Kerosene in the name of adulteration levy in order to harmonize the price of Kerosene with that of Diesel.
READ: Chinese Prostitutes Arrested In South C, Nairobi
For the first time in the history of taxation in Kenya, this move by the president will see the price of Kerosene hit the Sh 100 mark. Uhuru proposes that the adulteration levy is paid by the importer at the rate of Sh 18 a litre of all illuminating Kerosene imported into the country.
These proposals will be discussed in the National Assembly on Thursday. It is widely seen that these proposed amendments will easily sail through. This is after ODM members of parliament decided to throw their support behind the president after a parliamentary group meeting attended by Raila Odinga at Orange House. That ODM can now donate its resources and support to the government means common mwananchi is left in a tight spot.

social media after they refused to be stolen from. They released a song with
the Kansoul and as it turns out, the Kansoul was only using them to promote
their next song which performed dismally despite the Ethic Effect.
King
Kaka, and his management label Kaka Empire, has also not been left out in this
extortion racket that calls itself the Kenya’s music industry. He signs new
artists and hooks them up with the numerous radio stations he has connections
with but when you look at the contracts, the interviews and mentions the
upcoming artists are given are only decoy and King Kaka’s main intentions are
to milk them dry.
You
will notice that an artist as talented as Bridget Blue is uploading her music
to Kaka Empire’s YouTube channel. If King Kaka’s intentions were nurturing
talent as he claims in his fake inspiration tirades on social media and during
interviews, he would encourage the artist to upload her songs to her own
channel and build her audience.
As
an upcoming artist, it is vital that you avoid these extortionists at all
costs. Music, like any other business, requires capital to start off and you
should put this into consideration. Pay a producer for your song or even start
off Instagram. The favors that the “fathers of the industry” offer you come at
a hefty price.
Perhaps
the most resilient story of them all is that of Otile Brown. When Dr. Eddie
tried to extort him by claiming exclusive rights to all his songs just because
he housed him when he moved base from Mombasa to Nairobi, Otile Brown
retaliated by counter suing him saying that their contract included his housing
and clothing needs. Dr. Eddie when as far as pulling down Otile’s most famous
song from YouTube at the time. He has since returned the song to YouTube to
profit from it.
