State Responds To Shocking Allegations That Corona Virus Patient Is Admitted At Kenyatta

State Responds To Shocking Allegations That Corona Virus Patient Is Admitted At Kenyatta

The government has responded to claims widely circulated on social media that a patient suffering from Corona Virus was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital.

The government, through the ministry of health, and Kenyatta National Hospital have come out to strongly term those allegations as false.

The claims come at a time when citizens are worried because of the entry of a China Southern Airlines plane whose passengers were allowed into the country and advised to self quarantine.

The flight had 239 passengers, majority of whom were Chinese nationals. Kenyans were also in the plane in addition to other people who were on transit.

The high court suspended flights from China for 10 days pending the hearing of a case related to the virus and ordered that the 239 passengers be put on quarantine in military facilities.

Kenyatta National Hospital confirmed that they were not treating any patient with the virus and the information about such a patient should be ignored.

Raphael Tuju Has Recovered, To Land Back From London On Wednesday

Raphael Tuju Has Recovered, To Land Back From London On Wednesday

Cabinet Secretary without portfolio Raphael Tuju is reportedly out of danger and is expected to jet back in the country from London where he was hospitalized.

This information was revealed to the public by former vice chairman of Jubilee Party and former Gatanga member of parliament David Murathe.

He was addressing a Building Bridges Initiative rally in Kinori Stadium in Meru Town and sought to allay fears that Jubilee Party is in shambles for lack of leadership.

Raphael Tuju was involved in a serious accident along the Nairobi - Nakuru highway on the morning of February 12 when the vehicle he was traveling was engaged in a head-on collision with a public service vehicle.

The cabinet secretary was traveling to Kabarak, the home of former president Late Daniel Arap Moi, for a funeral.

He was rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital before being airlifted to Nairobi. An order issued by president Uhuru Kenyatta saw him being flown abroad to England for further treatment.

This revelation by David Murathe puts to rest rumors that Raphael Tuju was in danger.

My Life Is In Danger, Kenya Airways 'Corona Virus' Employee Now Claims

My Life Is In Danger, Kenya Airways 'Corona Virus' Employee Now Claims

Gire Ali, the Kenya Airways employee who filmed and shared on social media the video of  a China Southern Airlines plane landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with  239 passengers now claims he fears for his life.

Kenya Airways suspended the man for exposing the poor handling and mismanagement of the plane that had traveled from China, a country currently bearing the brunt of the Corona Virus epidemic.

The video filmed by Gire Ali, caused uproar on social media leading to a series of events including the deployment of Kenya Defense Forces medical personnel to all points of entry into the country, and the president ordering that the Mbagathi District Hospital special unit be finished within a week.

A number of doctors have also asked that Raychelle Omamo be charged with attempted mass murder for the way the plane and its passengers were casually handled at JKIA. It is said the 239 passengers were asked to self quarantine themselves for two weeks.

Mr Gire Ali says he feels his life is in danger for exposing the standoff that ensued after medical personnel at the airport refused to screen the passengers and they had to wait in the plane for more than an hour before an unnamed senior government official intervened to end the standoff.

They have been calling and I’m yet to go and meet the team because someone warned me that my life might be in danger and that they were watching me. I handed over my work identification documents through the fence and left. I fear about what could happen to me.
While on suspension, Gire Ali will be required to always be available for appearance before the investigating committee. He was also asked to provide his home address. He will be on full salary during the entire period of suspension.

A number of lawyers have disagreed with KQ's decision to suspend a whistleblower, with many calling him a patriot. His suspension letter was signed by Evelyne Munyoki, KQ chief human resources officer.

When we contacted the airline for comments, they said that the man was suspended for his involvement in the distribution of the clip.

Uhuru Summons Nairobi MCAs Ahead Of Sonko's Impeachment Motion

Uhuru Summons Nairobi MCAs Ahead Of Sonko's Impeachment Motion

President Uhuru Kenyatta has summoned 66 Nairobi MCAs who were elected or nominated through the Jubilee Party to State House on Saturday.

Speaking to Daily Updates, the majority chief whip in Nairobi City County Assembly June Ndegwa confirmed having received the invitation and forwarded it all the concerned members of county assembly.

June Ndegwa asked the members of the county assembly to be seated in State House by 8.45am for the meeting.

This meeting is coming a few days after Mike Sonko pulled a surprise move and handed over some of the most critical functions of his government to the national government in a ceremony witnessed by Uhuru Kenyatta, the attorney general and the speaker of the Senate Ken Lusaka.

The county assembly of Nairobi City County is deeply divided especially on the issue of Sonko impeachment.

While some of the members have vowed that the governor will not be sent home under their watch, others sent out a warning that no external forces will make them change their mind about impeaching Sonko.

Mike Sonko who is facing corruption charges in court has been meeting members of the county assembly across the political divide in his Upperhill offices. The agenda of these meetings has been how to defeat the impeachment motion.

It remains to be seen whether all the 66 MCAs will honor the summons by the president or stay put.

Raila's Ally Nelson Havi Elected LSK Chair

Raila's Ally Nelson Havi Elected LSK Chair

After four months of rigorous and heavily expensive campaigns, Kenyan lawyers have elected Nelson Havi as the chairman of Law Society of Kenya.

Nelson Havi, a radical who was not a member of the council of Law Society of Kenya at the time of being elected, takes the helm of a body greatly divided along party and ethnic lines. Perhaps his first task will be to redeem the image of a society seen to be in bed with the government of the day.

The lawyer who unsuccessfully tried to clinch the seat in the previous election but was disqualified on the basis of having not been in the society long enough easily floored his opponents this time in a definitive and a landslide victory.

Nelson Havi ran against Harriette Chiggai, Maria Mbeneka and Charles Kanjama. The gentleman of the council Charles Kanjama took the earliest opportunity to concede defeat and wish his competitor the best.

I congratulate my classmate Nelson Havi on running a bold and effective campaign that has captured the confidence of lawyers across the country. I congratulate him on a race well run and, as a democrat, am happy to accept the will of the voters.
Nelson Havi takes over from Allen Gichuhi and is expected to serve a three year term running from 2020 to 2022.

Why You Should Take Pictures Of Your Kid Before Going To Public Places

Why You Should Take Pictures Of Your Kid Before Going To Public Places

All parents dread that horrible experience where you go to a public place with your kid and then they get lost in the crowd. A number parents have some of the best pieces of advice for you in case you find yourself in such a situation.

When going to a large and/or crowded public place like an amusement park, fair, concert, etc. with kids (or perhaps with challenged adults), take a quick individual picture of each before entering. That way you have an image that can be shared with security / law enforcement if the child gets separated or lost, including the exact clothing they were wearing that day. It will greatly speed the process of organizing a search to have an accurate description and image of the missing person. Hopefully you never will need to use the pics in this way, and they can be a memory of a fun day.

LPT: Take pics of your kids before going to public places from r/LifeProTips
This piece of advice was shared on a subreddit, r/LifeProTips. Here are the rest of the comments about the same topic.
Another tip that we have had to put to use and it WORKS: teach your kids that if they lose sight of you, suddenly can’t find you, etc. Teach them to STAY PUT and not to panic and start running frantically to find you. That’s how kids get lost. Once mom or dad realizes you’re not there, they back track their steps to find you. I cannot tell you how scary it was one time when we were traveling in Spain and we watched our son take a corner in a different direction than we were walking. He wasn’t paying attention and assumed the man walking next to him was his father. We saw his face when he looked up and realized the man wasn’t his father and he was about to bolt running in the wrong direction. My husband grabbed him before he took off. This all happened within a few seconds. That’s when we came up with this plan. It works.
We taught our daughter not to stay put, but instead to go to the nearest employee for help (and to be certain it was an employee). We got separated at Disneyland the year before last, at night, when it was so crowded they turned the whole park into one-way traffic. Massive amounts of people. It happened in a split second as we were exiting a ride and it was terrifying, a crowd separated us and in a blink she was no longer next to me. We were only separated for like five minutes but it felt like the longest five minutes of my life, and I felt like a terrible parent. As I found a staff person and spoke with them about it and was getting ready to head to the kids lost and found area, the current wave of bodies passed by. My daughter emerged with a different staff person, cool as a cucumber. (She went right to them as soon as she didn’t see me in her sight and they were escorting her to the lost and found kids area also.) sometimes I feel like she isn’t listening to me but that was a moment I was so grateful the lesson sunk in and was remembered.

SGR is Best Thing Since Sliced Bread, China Contradicts David Ndii

SGR is Best Thing Since Sliced Bread, China Contradicts David Ndii

While some section of Kenyans cry and complain that the SGR train project was a scam, China through its many publications say the railway is fantastic. According to an article by economist David Ndii, "It is a lose, lose, lose project. We lose, the President loses, the Chinese lose. It is not worth it."
The Kenyan Government went on to launch the project that has since eaten more resources than it has produced.

An article on china.org.cn titled "Chinese-built railway becoming "nerve center" of skills transfer for Kenyan youth" paints a rosy picture of the project.

By featuring examples of employees of the SGR project, China paints a rosy picture.

The Mombasa-Nairobi SGR, which replaces the meter gauge railway that was constructed more than 100 years ago during the British colonial rule, has been an important fruit that came out of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in late 2015.

Transcribing an interview of one employee, they say;

The ambitious youth has found his voice in modern railway transport, thanks to encouragement from his Chinese supervisors coupled with rigorous training.
"I consider myself lucky to have very resourceful supervisors at the dispatch department, who have taught me the nitty-gritty of operating a modern train service," said Mbugua.

The article also reports on a locomotive driver who has gained skills from the Chinese to operate the train.

Wendy Kathambi, a female locomotive driver in her mid-20s, said that working at the SGR passenger train has been a defining moment amid interaction with highly skilled Chinese supervisors.
"I have been able to steer the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR passenger train without supervision since last June, and credit goes to my supervisors who are readily available to offer practical advice," said Kathambi.

This comes after a report of inflated costs of the construction of the infrastructure that leaked and infuriated Kenyans.

Particularly, grass that costed taxpayers 1 billion Kenyan shillings was a highlight.

Kenyans React To News That Govt Will Not Post Teachers To North Eastern

Kenyans React To News That Govt Will Not Post Teachers To North Eastern
The Chief Executive of Teachers Service Commission has today declared that the body will not post non locals teachers to teach in the region unless the government puts in places measures to curb insecurity.

She told parliamentarians who sit in the Education Committee that the right of teachers to life supersedes the right of students to education.

You can read the story here:
Kenyans had mixed reactions to this news. While many hailed this decision as brave and supportive of human rights of teachers, some saw this as a sure way of disadvantaging the children in North Eastern who have no one to teach them.

Here are some of those reactions.

TSC Vows To Not Post Non Local Teachers In North Eastern

TSC Vows To Not Post Non Local Teachers In North Eastern

The Teachers Service Commission has maintained that it will not post teachers to the counties in North Eastern if the security situation in the region is not fixed.

Speaking to the Education Committee in the National Assembly, Teachers Service Commission boss Nancy Macharia told Parliamentarians that the right of teachers to life supersedes the right of children in the North to education and asked the government to guarantee the security of teachers first.

The right to life is sacrosanct and supersedes all other rights.
To improve the situation, the Teachers Service Commission urged the leadership in North Eastern to mop up retired teachers who are still below the age of 65 to take up the chalk and prepare students for national exams.

Nancy Macharia also sought to disavow the accusations that the commission is a soulless corporation that doesn't care about teachers and watches as they suffer in a region where they are faced with a lot of challenges.

She went ahead to say that the Teachers Service Commission has done everything in its power to ensure that every teacher is safe.

A number of teachers have lost their lives in the region due to terror and violence related cases in the North.

Appearing before the same commission, Education cabinet secretary Prof George Magoha suggested that the close to 25,000 students in North Eastern who scored grade C and above should quickly trained as teachers and deployed in the region.

China Southern Flight Lands 239 In Nairobi, Asked To Self Quarantine

The Kenyan Ministry of Health has cleared 239 passengers who arrived in Nairobi from China on Wednesday. This is amidst fears of the rapidly growing cases of the coronavirus, now at over 81,000 infections and 2, 770 deaths all over the globe.

What irked many was the directive to self-quarantine for 14 days that the passengers received. It is not clear who will enforce the quarantine.

This is what Twitter had to say;
Algeria and Egypt are the only African countries with confirmed cases as at now.

Kenyans React To Sonko's Latest Stroke Of Genius

Kenyans React To Sonko's Latest Stroke Of Genius

Mike Sonko's decision to surrender the leadership of the county government of Nairobi City County to the national government has caught many by surprise. This move is seen as his way of avoiding the impending impeachment motion against him.

The woes of the governor started when the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officers arrested him on a runway at the coast. The corruption charges preferred against him saw him lose the privilege of accessing his city council offices. He has been running the city from Upperhill ever since.

Here's what Kenyans on Twitter had to say about this new development.

The Curious Case of Ksh 1 Billion SGR Grass That Goes To Sleep

The Curious Case of Ksh 1 Billion SGR Grass That Goes To Sleep

It would only make sense that way, right? If Kenyan taxpayers' money reduced by 1 billion shillings to grow grass, then this must be the group-of-schools type of grass. This is the type of grass that can pose for pictures on Instagram. This is the type of grass that goes viral for sleeping on a billion worth of soil bedding.
Kenyans knew the SGR Mega Project was a scam. For whatever the country paid, what was built is just a small fraction of what we deserve. The problem is that we had a worse colonial era rail system before. Amidst the pomp and glamour, the SGR seemed better than what we had. Was it worth it?

The problem is that these details come out way after Kenyans lost the money. If it enriched the pockets of the owners of the country, then the money has already been spent and/or locked up in assets far away. Can it be recovered?

If something that grows naturally can cost this much, then we have underestimated our Highness, grass. Forgive us for undervaluing you. Forgive us for stepping on you. You deserve way better. You deserve much more zeroes after you.

You deserve a zero 10
You deserve another 100
You totally deserve another 1000
Wait, how about two more  100,000
Not enough. How about three more? 100, 000, 000
And finally, to crown you, oh King Grass, here is a final one.. 1,000,000,000

Sadly, when the rain is gone, oh King..You will be brown. Kenya lost and you lost.

Andrew Kibe: The Evangelist Of Toxic Masculinity

Andrew Kibe: The Evangelist Of Toxic Masculinity

Manhood has been the world's most unstable institution since the apple in Eden and things aren't looking up anytime soon. Once or often better men, greater men rise from this institution and inspire the remainder into achieving the unbelievable. The unthinkable is then broken down and every man has his cake.

One such man we meet in the streets of Nairobi, unconventionally howling at the rest of us from the comfort of a nondescript radio station cubicle probably with one hand on his honor.

Andrew Kibe is a mentalist, disruptive meninist, serial hater of weak men and preacher of wine. As is evident to all self made men, the laws of the jungle protect and preserve its creators. Kibe does not take hostages with his words actions or thoughts, something that's critical for one's career as a preacher with a quota to meet.

Before his infamy on the Kenyan webs and radio as the man who loves objectification and albeit degrading women while crusading the men to "hit that pudesh", we see a believer; a man with unwavering loyalty to the collar.

We see Burale and Kibe side by side like two unbelievers in a foxhole, only this time they are the shepherds. Probably in his formative stage as a Pyrrhic enabler Kibe has the glint in his eye and we excuse his partner for mistaking it for a good thing.
Andrew Kibe: The Evangelist Of Toxic Masculinity
Andrew Kibe, Robert Burale and their Gospel Crew

In a classic Joker movie the strikingly young and devout man needs an obsession and no course to turn bad. Only a chance and confluence of events to push him into action.

Andrew Kibe is a man who introduced chaos into the system, one who's main agenda is anarchy not for its own course. A bitter man, like a foolish man knows no depth too deep for him to survive.

The thing with faith and institutional faith for that matter is the belief that comes with it. Now faith is intangible to the inexperienced and belief is more important.

Kibe's faith in the cloak was turned off by a betrayal so close he felt his cheeks wet and the man resorted to the single thing none can take from him. Belief in self, like Nietzsche taught is the ultimate key to becoming an ultra man, the best of the best men.

Andrew Kibe: The Evangelist Of Toxic Masculinity
Andrew Kibe with his Ex-Wife

Andrew found a new gospel to preach, turning his pain and bitterness into an inexhaustible fountain of something he believes all men should drink and be drunk in.

It is worthwhile to note that he is in fact an ultra man by definition, not relying on his church, society or morals to guide him through all the mines peppering his path yet every single day he emerges whole.

Unless, this all is a facade and smokescreen for the little man trapped under, crying for sweet release and affection, then we are up for some horrible ending.

As a self professed champion of the boy child's cause, Kibe does little but belittle the other end of the divide in a never ending project of stealing wind from wherever he can find it.

His sage would be an item of envy if it was not hell bent on explaining away the woes of men world over by dragging in women and friends who can't help out. This is a critical projection of his failings that Kibe is laying on all of manhood unopposed, we run a risk of becoming everything he was before his übermensch moment if we take his advice.

The man reaps big time from talk and anyone who walks his talk will pay the price not even Andrew paid.

Therefore, as insurmountable as manhood is one shall not take Andrew Kibe to heart despite him being the only man you'd need on your team when out chasing tail. Andrew Kibe wants to see us all men burn in the fire he started.

Kenyans React To Ngirita Saying She Would Rather Die Than Use A Matatu

Phyllis Njeri Ngirita declared in court today that she would rather die than subject herself to the ghetto of having to use a matatu.

She also shamelessly claimed that her son couldn't speak German anymore because her family's accounts had been frozen by the state.

My Son Can't Speak German Anymore, Ngiritas Beg Uhuru To Have Mercy On Them

My Son Can't Speak German Anymore, Ngiritas Beg Uhuru To Have Mercy On Them

Embattled businesswoman Phyllis Njeri Ngirita today broke down in court saying her son has forgotten how to speak German and can now only use English, Kiswahili and Kikuyu and is turning into a chokora.

In a bitter outburst, the lady whose entire family is facing charges in court for the loss of more than Ksh 9 Billion claimed that her family was being targeted unfairly by the state.

While Phyllis Njeri Ngirita did not deny supplying 'air' to the National Youth Service, she lamented on why those who were listed alongside her family in the scandal and other scandals like the Standard Gauge Railway were not being mentioned.

She painfully explained to journalists at Kilimani Law Courts that her son was being forced to use Matatus because all their vehicles had been impounded and held at Naivasha Police Station. In her own words, "the state is using their vehicles to decorate Naivasha police station."

Phyllis Njeri Ngirita paints the picture of a woman subdued by the slow grinding wheels of justice. She has witnessed the worst of the state, and for a family used to the luxuries offered by money, she could not fathom the fact that the courts have restricted her from flying.

The emotional wreck that was Phyllis Njeri Ngirita declared that she would rather die than use matatus.
