Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyongo has been rushed to hospital after falling ill during the installation of Archbishop Philip Anyolo. He has been taken to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu.
Reports indicate that doctors are attending to him in intensive care.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto were at the event. This is even amidst the growing political tension in the country over 2022 succession.
Thousands of Catholic Church members met at Uzima University grounds for the installation of Homa Bay Bishop Philip Anyolo as Archbishop of Kisumu.
Others who attended the ceremony were Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya); Cabinet secretaries Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and Raychelle Omamo (Defence) and several other members of parliament.
He was later airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment.

Ugandan Eggs, Ugandan Milk. The New Kenyan Breakfast
From 2017, a new trend transformed Kenyan breakfast tables. To afford milk and eggs to use amidst the inflation, Kenyans had to go for the cheapest product on supermarket shelves - Ugandan products. For a while now, Lato milk is a common sight in Kenyan households. 'It's what we get in the shops. We have to buy it', say shoppers. 'I stock up on Lato because I make better profit margins',say the shopkeepers. A section of local producers now complain because they are being edged out of their own backyard.
In their website, Lato Milk says 'THE FOUNDATION OF A HAPPY, HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. Milk straight from the land of milk and honey -Mbarara, Uganda.
Several articles on-line show the aggressive marketing and brand activations that Lato have been conducting in Kenya. They want a piece of the market, and they already have a considerable chunk.
Activists complain that sly businessmen discovered produce from Uganda was cheaper because the cost of production is lower in the landlocked East African nation. They therefore source their stock there and sell it in Kenya, for a price lower than the Kenyan version of the same products.
In the agriculture industry, chicken and eggs from Uganda are also cheaper. Pineapples from Uganda have also made their way into Kenyan pudding. It's a price war that Uganda is clearly winning.
A Twitter user went to the social media site to complain how she could no longer get market for eggs and she had to sell at a loss.
This government has actually done it's best to hit the lowest kabisaaa. Yaaani, they had to find a way. So now Ugandan eggs have continued flooding the market, and I'm forced to sell a tray of eggs from 270 now to 200. What business is this??— WAMBUI 😘 (@MjayWambui) January 11, 2019

Indian Girl Murdered By Family For Eloping
The city of Gaya, Bihar State in India went into shock after the body of a 16 year old girl was found dismembered and mutilated. Police now say that her family were responsible for the killing, after they were angered when she eloped with a friend. She had been reported missing on 28th of December 2018.
Police say that the family of the teenage girl murdered her in what is known as a “honour” killing.
Discovered on Sunday, pictures of her badly mutilated body were shared on social media and many claimed that she had been burned using acid. This sparked protests in the city.
Bihar is one the poorest states in India and the grotesque murder can only be compared to the gang rape and murder of a female student over 6 years ago in Delhi. That murder sparked nationwide demonstrations.
While the family claimed that the girl had been raped and murdered, police disagreed saying their investigations showed foul play. After eloping, she had returned home after 3 days but the parents plotted the murder assisted by a butcher friend.
A post mortem conducted on the body showed that she was not raped. Furthermore, the parents had denied calls to appear at the police station to give a statement.
Traditions of the locals consider elopement a very serious breach of code.

Betty Kyallo Blushes As Khaligraph Sings Nakuja Kukupiga Mti
Whispers litter the streets of Kenyan Showbiz after a video of OG Khaligraph singing to TV Siren Betty Kyallo came up. What's juicy is that the song is very dirty with Khaligraph singing of how he's going to bang a mystery girl. However, Betty is standing beside him singing along to the song. We have to warn you though, the lyrics are DIRTY. Betty blushes as the rapper spits his lines. 'Nakuja kukupiga mti, Nakuja kugusa mat*t*'
Earlier today, Betty uploaded an image of him and Khaligraph. Hours later, she uploaded a video of him singing 'Trippin' with her.
Khaligraph then uploaded the Nitakupiga Mti video on Instagram. Was this a teaser to a coming song?
He then captioned it 'Stick ni ile ile'.
He later deleted the video but we made sure we kept it for you. You're welcome😻😻.
Here is a video of the session on Youtube;

BREAKING: Moses Kuria Reportedly Tenders Resignation As MP
Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria has today reportedly tendered his resignation as member of parliament. It is unclear why the legislator would decide on this sudden move. Speaker Justin Muturi was apparently to be the recipient of the letter. Mr Kuria has been at loggerheads with President Uhuru after he claimed that Central Kenya was not getting the development it deserves. He now says that his life is in danger.
He was to address the press over the matter but that went on hold.
This morning, a video of a TV interview of the legislator surfaced on the internet. Breaking: DRC Catholic Church Say Elections Were Flawed
The Catholic Church in DR Congo has just announced that the results given by the electoral commission are not accurate. In a public statement, the church says that the figures published by the electoral body do not match the results collected by their observers. Felix Tshisekedi was declared as the president elect narrowly beating Martin Fayulu, who many thought had won election.
The Catholic Church is a powerful and respected body in the Central African nation and this announcement means that the drama is just about to start.
DR Congo Gets New President From The Opposition
Critics of incumbent President, Joseph Kabila claim that he went into an underhand deal with Mr Tshisekedi after his favourite candidate Mr Shadary, clearly lost.

DR Congo Gets New President From The Opposition
The electoral commission in the Central African country has announced Felix Tshisekedi as the winner of the recent Presidential elections. The incumbent, Joseph Kabila will step down after ruling for 18 years. The DRC has never had a peaceful transition of power since independence. This will be the first peaceful handover.
Felix Tshisekedi, is the leader of the Congolese main opposition party, the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS).
Check out how major media outlets broke the news;
DR Congo picks Felix Tshisekedi as president to succeed Joseph Kabila
The Democratic Republic of Congo has a new incoming president, Felix Tshisekedi , the son of a veteran opposition leader. He won with just over 7 million votes or 38.6%, according to the national electoral commission. The other strongly favored candidate, Martin Fayulu, a former Exxon Mobil executive, came second with 6.4 million votes.
Felix Tshisekedi declared winner of DR of Congo presidential election
Jan. 9 (UPI) -- The Democratic Republic of Congo's electoral commission declared opposition candidate Felix Tshisekedi the winner of its presidential election Wednesday. Tshisekedi will take over the office from President Joseph Kabila, who has ruled the country since 2001, in what is considered the first peaceful transfer of power between parties in the country since it gained independence from Belgium.
Opposition named winner in DR Congo poll
Opposition candidate Felix Tshisekedi has won the Democratic Republic of Congo's tightly contested presidential vote, the electoral commission says. Provisional results put him ahead of another opposition candidate Martin Fayulu, and the ruling coalition's Emmanuel Shadary. If confirmed, Mr Tshisekedi will be the first opposition challenger to win since the DR Congo gained independence.
Another opposition candidate, Martin Fayulu came second. The elections results had delayed, raising tension and questions on their validity.

Chinese Arrests In Kilimani Key To The 26 Elephants That Died In Late 2018
On Tuesday 8th January, Kenyan detectives arrested three Chinese nationals who were in possession of game trophy including ivory tusks. On 18th December, 2018, media outlets published a headline that 26 elephants had died in the Maasai Mara. What was shocking was that the 26 died due to poisoning and unknown causes -it all happened within 3 months. Daily Updates looks at the patterns and the shocking realization that wildlife poachers are still active in Kenya - and there is a new player in town.

Right under the noses of Kenyan authorities, poachers continue to kill elephants within the national parks. Sadly, they are enabled by corrupt officials who allow them to access parks or neglect patrols. For a long time, the largest market for ivory and illegal game trophy has been Asia.
China is a huge consumer of these illegal products and the influx of Chinese nationals in the country has come with its effects. It is highly probable that they have figured out the weak systems within Kenya that allow them access and ability to commit crime.
Years ago, Kenyan poachers would acquire ivory and sell it off the black market and sell it out to the consumers and clients overseas.
Now, the foreigners come to find the trophies themselves.

Geuka Nikubeng Song Goes Global After DJ Plays It In NBA Game
It seems that Ethic Entertainment are nearing a major breakthrough if we factor in a recent development. A Kenyan-American DJ, who is the official DJ of the Dallas Mavericks played their song 'Position' during a live NBA basketball game. They feature Kansoul in the song, which has so far garnered about 2.5 million views on YouTube. Perhaps, the most catchy phrase of the song is 'Geuka Nikubeng'.
DJ PoiZon Ivy truly supports Kenyan music through the platform that she has. She recently also played 'Dundaing' by King Kaka and Kristoff at a past game.
She posted the video and captioned it 'one man’s trash is another woman’s treasure @ethicentmnt @the_Kansoul #MakeKenyanMusicGlobalMusic'

Eyebrows Raised As Former Youth Fund Chair, Bruce Odhiambo Dies
Doctors attribute the cause of death to heart complications. Former Youth Fund Chairman, Bruce Odhiambo died at the Nairobi Hospital after admission several hours earlier. The late Odhiambo was embroiled in mega scandals after his name was adversely mentioned in the NYS saga. Netizens raised eyebrows over his death because former CEO of the Youth Fund, Catherine Namuye died in 2017 under mysterious circumstances when she collapsed and died in her home.
According to reports, Catherine Namuye lived in fear and regrets from the pressure she faced during her time at the Youth Fund.
Ms. Namuye was first appointed as acting CEO of the fund in February 2013 upon the suspension of the then boss, Juma Mwatata Mwangala, who had been sent packing over allegations of purchasing 1,050 hatching machines at a cost of Sh208 million without the YEDF board’s approval. Mr Mwangala’s predecessor and first-ever CEO of the fund, Umuro Wario was suspended in 2009 and later bundled out of office over claims of irregularities in financial, recruitment and procurement procedures in the institution. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission later absolved Mr. Wario of the claims.
During an appearance before a parliamentary committee, a disturbed Namuye reported that former chairman Bruce Odhiambo had forced her to advance Sh180 million to a certain Quorandum Ltd for an IT contract.
“This project was a board undertaking. I found it rather curious for the board to make me the sole signatory,” she said.
After the scandal, President Uhuru Kenyatta dismissed Mr Odhiambo as Youth Development Fund chairman.
Here is what Twitter had to say;
Bruce Odhiambo has passed on. His eulogy will read like that of a glorious king despite massive corruption he was involved in.— Rein (@Asamoh_) January 8, 2019
Bruce Odhiambo was undoubtedly a noble, overdriven and enthusiastic man but he was also a sex predator who lured young aspiring girls to his palatial home pretending to be interested in boosting and nurturing young talent— Lorna Nzilani (@LornaNzilani) January 8, 2019
In less than two years, Catherine Namuye, her lawyer and now Bruce Odhiambo have all passed on. For Namuye and her lawyer, it smelt like an assassination to nip potentially explosive corruption revelations at the Youth Fund. That case is as good as dead.— Mediatician (@oleshitemi) January 8, 2019
DP Ruto Sleepless While Uhuru, Baba Dance At The Coast
Barely two years after the disputed elections of 2017 and the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto, huge cracks are forming within the Jubilee administration. From public spats and fiery exchange of words, it is clear that all is not well in paradise. While Deputy President William Ruto fights to cement his chances for 2022, all the hullabaloo in the political scene show that it's going to be a tough fight.
Former PM, Raila Odinga celebrated his 74th birthday in Mombasa in the company of ODM leaders and President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday.
Amidst the merry making, President Kenyatta shot back at politicians who said that Central Kenya has been ignored in terms of development. He said that it was in his best interest to develop each corner of this country equally without favouring any section.
Earlier, Gatundu legislator Moses Kuria spoke saying that the president ignored the Mt Kenya region. In a facebook post, he also insinuated that their loyalty during election was not rewarded as should be.
A video posted online shows Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta dancing during Mr. Odinga's birthday. They danced to Tanzania's Harmonize song, 'Happy Birthday'.

David Murathe Resigns From Jubilee Party, Vows To Block Ruto's Presidential Bid
David Murathe has resigned from his position of Vice Chairperson of the Jubilee Party saying that his continued stay in the ruling party is no longer untenable.
David Murathe, who has been in the news lately for openly saying that William Ruto is not fit to run Kenya, has said he intends to block Ruto from running for president when Uhuru Kenyatta retires in 2022.
The former Gatanga member of parliament says it doesn't make sense for him to continue sitting in the National Executive Council with the same man he is taking to the Supreme Court to prevent from being president.
Murathe recently announced, during the funeral of Raphael Tuju's brother, that William Ruto has served two terms alongside Uhuru Kenyatta and is thus not qualified to run.
He said he will be seeking the interpretation of the highest court in the land on the matter. He has made good his threat.
David Murathe is a close confidant of president Uhuru Kenyatta and many of Ruto's allies saw his sentiments as an echo of what those in Uhuru's camp feel.
