Excellent talent is like cream. It always rises to the top at some point. While the global animation and illustration industry is often a preserve of artists from the US, Europe, and Asia, there is hope.

Twenty-five-year-old Nyambura Kariuki describes herself on her Twitter bio as a cartoonist who is still evolving. We beg to disagree when we judge her work because she is clearly levels above what we have seen in the local scene.

Miss Kariuki heard that celebrated Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o is set to release a children's book called Sulwe in January 2019 and she decided to 'shoot her shot'.
In a tweet captioning the actress, the young illustrator boldly introduces her work;
Superb, isn't it?
Well, after hundreds of retweets, her tweet caught the attention of Jamaican star musician, Ce'Cile and she commented,
Those five words mean a lot to anyone on cue for introduction into the global scene. Now we wait for Lupita to see this and celebrate what happens after. It will be phenomenal for this talented artist.

Miss Kariuki has a link to her Behance portfolio, which serves the work she has done to date. We took a peek and here are some of her art projects.
