Former Mt Elgon MP John Serut Is Dead

Daily Updates Africa understands from multiple sources that former member of parliament for Mt Elgon is dead. He was battling multiple myeloma.

John Serut died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital. He had been battling cancer for more than two years.

He represented the people of Mt Elgon in parliament for 10 years, from 2002 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2017 as an independent candidate. He lost the 2007 polls to Fred Kapondi.

John Serut's daughter Michelle Serut took to Twitter to mourn her dad, regretting that her dad would neither see her children or see the woman she would become.

It would be remembered that in October last year, Michelle Serut appealed to well wishers to help her family clear medical bills that had amounted to more than 20 million shillings.
