The Thin Line Between Consent and Harassment

It is clearly the open season for celebrity scandals especially those involving 'touching what you are not supposed to touch'. From a man who plans to be more successful in the future, here is why you should really think twice before you grab that a$$. First of all, a smile does not automatically mean consent. That you are in a position of power does not entitle you to anyone that your crazy imagination fancies.
The New York Times and The New Yorker  were the first to publish allegations of rape and sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein by Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan, and many other women before he was fired from his company 
After the highly publicized allegations against Harvey Weinstein, here are the men who have been accused of sexual misconduct :

Hope Solo accuses Sepp Blatter of sexual assault at awards ceremony

The former Fifa president Sepp Blatter has been accused by Hope Solo, the USA women's football team goalkeeper, of having sexually assaulted her at Fifa's Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in January 2013. In an interview with the Portuguese newspaper Expresso, being published on Saturday, Solo, 36, claimed she "had Sepp Blatter grab my ass" at the glittering presentation of Fifa's annual football awards for achievement during 2012.

André Balazs, Celebrity Hotelier, Is Accused of Groping

The Times left repeated and detailed messages regarding these accusations with Mr. Balazs, his executive assistant and his personal publicist, Pierre Rougier. The messages were not returned. Attempts to reach Mr. Balazs through the general managers at his hotels were also unsuccessful.

Twitter on fire as Nick Mutuma and Joe Muchiri are accused of sexual harassment by multiple women

Women are now coming out in numbers to report incidents of sexual harassment against them. This precedence was set after multiple women including Lupita Nyong'o accused Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexually harassing them over decades. Over 10 male American celebrities and politicians have now been accused of sexual harassment since Harvey Weinstein's scandal blew up.

Although it might seem a non-issue now, these matters come back to haunt those who end up being successful. For whatever reason, when the opportunities rise and the accusers (legit or otherwise) speak up to the media, the downhill journey begins. These sort of cases can destroy careers as seen in the recent spate of cases.
