Kenyans Slapped With Shockingly Huge Electricity Bills
Kenyans are reeling from shock served to them by Kenya Power after many people received electricity bills the like of which has never been seen before.
Many people have been slapped with bills that do not reflect their consumption. Those who use post paid are being sold to as little as 2 units for Sh200!
People have taken to social media to air their frustrations with many saying the monopoly of Kenya Power should be broken.
Why is Kenya Power looting from Kenyans? Why? How can someone's bill move from Ksh 500 to Ksh 3,500? Is the real banditry economy now?— juma (@jumaf3) January 6, 2018
Last month I paid Ksh 26,000 for my electricity bill, now, it’s up to Ksh 6,000 and we are not even close to half the month..I got scared last month I don’t even use my microwave m...What is wrong?! Who else is experiencing the same?! @KenyaPower what is going on?!? @kenya_power— Thee Trend Setter ™ (@xtiandela) December 5, 2017
@KenyaPower_Care so I buy tokens worth 600bob and you give me 2units surely?is this your way of recovering the 8.1billion backdated bill because I don't have any outstanding charges!— Bernice (@NyarNyamwa) January 4, 2018

@KenyaPower_Care according to your Kisumu office I owe 12,800 never mind I've been paying what you send me as the bill every month. Oh BTW I've also been told this 12800 hasn't 'reflected in the system' yet so if I pay 7k I'm clear. Silipi na silipi.— Apram Lingolin (@3xcul1bur) January 7, 2018
Total monopoly is what is making @KenyaPower @KenyaPower_Care steal from Kenyans without giving a second thought. You purchase a token of 500 K and they give you 10 Units. This craze should stop.— Rashma Maalim (@RashmaMaalim) January 6, 2018
