More Than 5 Kikuyus Commit Suicide Every Day, Where Is The Problem?
The graveyards in Nyeri, Nyandarua and Kirinyaga counties are full of people who died as a result of taking their own lives. A shocking report by a regional newspaper paint a grim picture of the situation in Mt Kenya that requires urgent attention.
According to MT. KENYA STAR, at least four people commit suicide in Nyeri every passing day. At least one takes their own life in Kirinyaga.

There has not been any official inquiry or a fact finding mission by government to determine the root cause of the problem. Kenyans on social media tried to decipher the situation by suggestion problems that could be ailing the region.
Nyeri is losing at least 4 people a day to suicide, Kirinyaga at least one person day according to the Mt. Kenya star. What's going on? Sad indeed. pic.twitter.com/FvvGVuZ1FZ— Terryanne Chebet (@TerryanneChebet) May 13, 2019
A man -very accomplished has told younger men to "man up" and that in his (Gikuyu) community men don't require to be "encouraged & uplifted". See no evil, hear no evil ,speak no evil. In short men are told Its unmanly to cry ,to open up or even seek help. Sad.— DavyKN. (@IDayvie) May 13, 2019

Majority of the suicide victims are the dispersed Kenyans who either lost parents or were displaced during the 2007/8 & 2017 ethnic cleansing in the rift valley. Check their ages and environment— raymond kirundi (@kirundiray) May 13, 2019

Power only benefits politicians, that's all. Most enterpreneurs from the region are working day & night to avail cheap liquor as the only solace.— Jun van der Barry (@ambiyob) May 13, 2019
It's sad but this is entirely due to hard economic situations, I can attest, that Nyerians know God and they worship him in truth and the spirit.— richardwaithaka (@richardwaithaka) May 13, 2019
There
are very few organizations addressing suicide in Kenya despite the
