Kenyan Influencers Sell Their Souls To Always At The Expense Of Fellow Women
It only took a weekend getaway at the Fairmont Mount Kenya for a group of selfish influencers to thwart the gains made by ordinary women in their fight and demand for the supply of better quality products by Always manufacturer, P&G Kenya.
The influencers include Sharon Kate Ng'ang'a, Nancie Mwai, Mbeka, Wanjiru Njiru, Geek on Fashion, among others.
Some time back, Kenyan women got online to complain about sanitary pads put out in the market by Always. Through the hashtag #MyAlwaysExperience, the women voiced their concerns ranging from the fact that the pads are scented, caused irritation and rashes, caused major discomfort and swellings.
A social media user by the name Gatwiri says that the rashes caused by Always pads take weeks to heal.
HiAlways has largely ignored these concerns and complaints, often telling the women to send them DMs and not acting upon the sent DMs.@Always your sanitary pads are made of a plastic top that causes rashes, which takes weeks to heal. They are not breathable, in this hot tropical climate they smell awful. have a look at the complaints women have about your products here#MyAlwaysExperince#MyAlwaysExperience.
I have followed the story of P&G responses to women complaints and I have a problem. With one thing. In one response, they ask ladies to DM their problem, as talking about menstruation is very private. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!#MyAlwaysExperince
In a bizarre move by Always, they started a counter hashtag, #FeelTheComfort, and even got a number of influencers to push it. The influencers were paid in the form of a getaway to Fairmont Mount Kenya.I have followed the story of P&G responses to women complaints and I have a problem. In the photos posted by the influencers, there were a number of Kenyan women who called them out for pushing misleading information when it was pretty obvious that they were not regular users of the products that are in question.
We are fighting tooth and nail to make menstruation a normal topic to discuss openly so women can get comfortable, seek help openly, feel normal, and here you are, a whole big company telling women to shut it up?#MyAlwaysExperince— Flojo (@Kamaitha) March 12, 2019
Today I woke up to do my share of activism to demand better #sanitary products for Kenyan women. After #MyAlwaysExperince, Always Kenya decided to take a bunch of influencers to #Fairmont for the badly named #FeelTheComfortAlways@scheafferoo@Kurlycheeks#KOT— Gatwiri (@atwirich) March 11, 2019
No amount of PR will wash away the fact that the pads are terrible and its unfortunate that some women have no alternative but use them.— essie karanja (@MariguKaranja) March 11, 2019
The last time i used this toxic product, Mwai kibaki was still building thika super highway.

Some influencers are fucktards tu, I know we are here to make money but how do you sleep at night #MyAlwaysExperince. Anyway same group with the ones who were busy sijui trying to toss Taxify #WomenWithDriveKe 😡😡😡😡— Ubax (@ZahraUbah) March 11, 2019
Sounds really off being that an insurmountable number of women raised deep concerns via #MyAlwaysExperince so to even talk about #FeelTheComfortAlways is shocking. 😬🤯— Scheaffer Okore (@scheafferoo) March 10, 2019
Their responses to the complaints were quite robotic and many suspected that their social media handles were being handled by Always staff. There's a concern around Always doing PR after Kenyan women complained about their substandard pads via #MyAlwaysExperince instead of addressing concerns raised. I hope this isn't true because it'd be so sad!!! pic.twitter.com/ki7PQ7lEIY— Scheaffer Okore (@scheafferoo) March 10, 2019
Send tips, business inquiries and all else to dailyupdateskenya[at]gmail.comWait a minute, why am I getting almost robotic responses from the influencers I followed up with? "I have used always products since I was 12 or in class 7 etc" "I have never experienced this" "my experience is different" BUT "I have sent your feedback to the company." OMG! pic.twitter.com/6P4H9idrSL— Gatwiri (@atwirich) March 11, 2019
