Russian Workers Undergoing Training On How To Smile Ahead Of The World Cup

For a country that believes that laughing for no reason is a sign of stupidity, the influx of more than 1.6 million tourists may give them some 1.6 million reasons to be more polite, helpful and to smile some more.
Russians do not smile as much compared to all their other European counterparts. Ahead of the planet's biggest and most popular festival, the world cup, several organizations such as the Russian Railways, the Moscow Metro and FIFA are conducting training to this effect.
Workers such as the train conductors are being taught how to smile at millions of people expected to use the trains to commute.
If this training is successful, it might help the biggest country in the world to tackle the stereotype that the Russian people are an unfriendly lot.
The World Cup kicks off on June 14 with the host nation taking on Saudi Arabia. If they win that match, they will be more smiling than the training can guarantee.
