After the punishing campaign trail, governors across the country finally took their oaths of office. Especially interesting was the enthusiasm shown by first-time governors who are eager to avoid the fate of those they beat in the just concluded elections. For the first time, Kenya elected female governors and that was a sign of things to come as it will give more women the impetus to aspire for these seats and serve their people.
