Blow To Babu Owino As Court Orders Vote Recount

Babu Owino's parliamentary seat has today been put in limbo after a high court judge ordered for a vote recount in Embakasi East constituency.
The youthful member of parliament's victory was challenged by his main opponent Jubilee's Francis Mureithi who claims the election was marred with violence and irregularities.
Babu Owino was against a vote recount saying that his opponent had colluded with Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission to interfere with ballot papers and stuff the boxes before resealing them again to snatch him his victory.
The presiding judge said he was satisfied with reasons given by the petitioner on why a recount was necessary. The returning officer had admitted in court that the results he had announced did not tally with those that were on the official forms and that some forms did not have the official stamps as required by the law.
Babu Owino has repeatedly said he would beat Francis Mureithi hands down should a reelection be held in the coming future.
He has also been at the forefront of NASA's fight against the ruling party, a position that has had him jailed several times. He was at one point engaged in a bitter war of words with Jubilee leaders and even went ahead to allegedly call the president a dog during a public rally. He later denied the allegations. The matter is still in court.
The court will hear the final submissions on the case challenging his win on 26th of February this year.
