Larry Madowo Fires Himself From The Nation Newspaper
Celebrated journalist has announced he is terminating his contract with Nation Media Group ran newspaper Nation where he had a weekly column called #FrontRow.
Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, Larry Madowo said it was an honor to have his articles on the newspaper and said he was grateful.
On Thursday, I terminated my contract to write the #FrontRow column in the Daily Nation[sic]. It was an honor and I am grateful to the paper for the page since August 2014.
This is coming after an apparent fallout between Larry Madowo and his employer after they refused to publish an article he had written. He went ahead to submit the article to CNN which published it.On Thursday, I terminated my contract to write the #FrontRow column in the @dailynation. Larry Madowo has been largely seen as pro opposition with many of his detractors and government supporters saying he is often used by the opposition to push the opposition's propaganda and smear the government. This week, the @dailynation refused to print my column for the first time in nearly 4 years.— Larry Madowo (@LarryMadowo) February 9, 2018
The irony aside, the same piece is now published on CNN https://t.co/C01kj61tL9
He has denied these allegations saying he does not support either side and is only doing his job as a journalist.
The surprise announcement by Larry Madowo puts him in an awkward position putting into consideration the fact that he still works for NTV which is also under the Nation Media Group that he has publicly disagreed with.
