President Of Atheists In Kenya Sacked By Central Bank Of Kenya

It is now official that Harrison Mumia, President of Atheists In Kenya Society has been sacked by former employer Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) in relation to tweets he posted in 2018 that suggested political affiliation. According to terms of employment at CBK, he was not supposed to display support of any political party.

He worked at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), which is indirectly owned by the Central Bank of Kenya.

In a series of tweets, Mr Mumia complains how he was suspended, investigated then finally sacked. He tried to appeal to the decision but the appeal was rejected on January 11, 2019.

He accuses the Director of HR at CBK for engaging in a witch-hunt.

He has been vocal in pushing for Atheism in Kenya, which is defined "as lack of belief in any God and deities as well as a total denial of the existence of any god."
