Jacque Maribe Sells Out Joe Irungu In An Apparent Plea Deal

Television journalist Jacque Maribe has admitted to the police that her boyfriend and murder suspect Joe Irungu attempted to take his own life in her house in Lang'ata on the night that Monica Kimani was murdered in Kilimani Estate.
Jacque Maribe said that Joe Irungu shot himself in the chest after a serious argument. On the contrary, Joe Irungu has stuck to his earlier version of the events that led to him sustaining a gunshot wound saying that he was accosted by three armed thugs that were riding on a motorbike.
He claims he was shot at Jacque Maribe's gate. He had just escorted Jacque Maribe into the house and was shot when he was getting out. The police have since poked holes at his narrative.
The details explaining the quarrel between Jacque Maribe and her boyfriend are contained in a sworn affidavit signed by the lead investigator in the case.
It is not clear why Jacque Maribe has chosen to provide a narrative that contradicts that held by her boyfriend. It is common for suspects to enter into plea deals with investigators, a move that is always deemed fit if it will ease the approach taken by investigators on a suspect.
Both Jacque and Jowie are in police custody. Jacque Maribe is being held at Gigiri Police Station while Joe Irungu is being held at Muthaiga Police Station.
