She Dated Old South Sudanese Politicians. The Dark Side Of Monica Kimani And Her Family

The gruesome death of Monica Kimani in an apartment in Kilimani has sparked a national debate on the source of money that funded her lavish lifestyle in and out of the country. Her father has described her as a hardworking woman who held no grudges with anyone.
Details emerging, however, paint the picture of a family that had to do whatever it takes to accomplish its goals.
In a story ran by Robert Alai, it is explained that Monica Kimani's father Bishop Paul Garama never went to any theology school and was ordained as a bishop by missionaries in South Sudan. The man of God went to South Sudan as a newspaper vender, a job he held for over a decade.
The bishop then invited his family members to the young state and that is when Monica Kimani's fortunes changed. She met people in high places and soon become well off.
Robert Alai claims that Monica Kimani was dating the deputy speaker of South Sudan's parliament. The deputy speaker, Daniel Awet Akot, is a seventy year old man who is said to have funded Monica Kimani's lavish lifestyle.
Daniel Awet Akot, a senior military official, helped Monica to ferry huge amounts of money back to the country without border checks. Alai claims that Monica was also involved in a money laundering cartel on behalf of South Sudan government officials.
