Sylvia Mulinge Sneaks Back To Safaricom After Tanzania Blocks Her Work Permit

In a case that can be attributed to deliberate sabotage by Tanzanian authorities, former Safaricom director, Sylvia Mulinge is now back at Safaricom. After months of intense lobbying to have her take position as Vodacom Tanzania managing director, she has had to return to the country.

Reports indicate that Tanzanian authorities kept telling her to be patient for her permit to be processed but this has not happened. Senior leadership at Safaricom saw it logical to reabsorb her into the Kenyan telco as a director for special projects. She will be directly reporting to Bob Collymore, who also returned as the chief executive officer after a medical leave.

Disgraced blogger, Cyprian Nyakundi had been on a series of blog posts about why integrity issues would not favour her appointment for the top job in the neighbouring country.

Sylvia was a powerful director at Safaricom and rumours claimed that she was so influential that she even had a say in matters that the CEO should have.
