Arsenal Honors Leeds Student Killed By Police In Kibera Slums
Arsenal FC paid an emotional tribute to Carliton David Maina by featuring him on their match day program against Cardiff City.
Carliton Maina who was 23 years at the time of his death was shot by the police on December 22 when he was allegedly walking home after watching a night time match.
The officers who shot him were said to be responding to a distress call in the area in Kibera which is full of armed robbery cases.
In the statement written in the program, Arsenal said they were saddened by the death of David Maina who was a student of Leeds University and a youth goalkeeper of Gor Mahia.
Carliton David Maina was shot in cold blood by police in Kibra on 22nd Dec last year. Amnesty International termed it the "hallmark of an extra judicial killing." He was an Arsenal fan.
