Uhuru Kenyatta Blasts TangaTanga Movement Over 2022
While on his way to Arusha, Tanzania, the President did not mince his words about all those who have started fanning 2022 campaigns. Speaking to Kitengela residents, he said those in politics should deliver their promises instead.
He travelled to Arusha to continue talks on the integration of East Africa and making business easy across the borders.
Delighted to have met Kitengela residents on my way to Arusha. My agenda in Arusha is to ensure our East African nations are united for the purpose of doing business together. We want to break the barriers that prevent the people of the EA community from prospering @WilliamsRuto pic.twitter.com/qEeOx4lR4e— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
We want to build a nation that ensures the needs of our youth, women and children are met without asking where they come from. Our nation and the East African Community cannot develop economically if we are divided | @WilliamsRuto pic.twitter.com/Q0KDojhOJ0— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
Speaking of Cabinet Secretaries, he mentioned that he had given those interested in politics to give way to those interested to serve Kenyans.During today's Cabinet meeting I reminded our Cabinet Secretaries that there are many young Kenyans who are willing and ready to work if they felt they are not up to task. Those who've chosen to keep politicking instead of serving the people should be ready to give way. pic.twitter.com/usjsEbKmC2— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
I urge Kenyans not to accept to be divided by anyone. Raila & I used to compete politically but we are now united. We need to decide as Kenyans that we will live together peacefully & work together to develop our nation & EA. Politics cannot feed us, we will be fed by our hardwork pic.twitter.com/WCQEgnSpRS— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
I want to point out to all Kenyans that you should not be wondering where your neighbour comes from. When you go home today, look for your neighbour and assure him that his problems are your problems and that you are there to help him. That is the meaning of the handshake. pic.twitter.com/wa8YfYwWqx— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
Elections will come & go but I assure you today that Kenyans will not shed their blood again because of politics. Peace in the country implies that investors will have the confidence to invest in industries which will have the effect of providing jobs to our youth | @WilliamsRuto pic.twitter.com/zG6ITFPK6r— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
Tell those who come to you politicking that you don't need politics. Tell them you need water, roads and education for your children. Tell them to stop their corrupt ways, and tell them not to go around dividing Kenyans along tribal lines. pic.twitter.com/8B3XdrHzbl— Uhuru Kenyatta (@UKenyatta) January 31, 2019
He also said that Kenyans should remain peaceful and tolerant of each other. For several months now, the country has witnessed discussion of the 2022 succession and photos seen online showed a campaign vehicle in Northern Kenya with the name of one candidate planning to run.
