Wilson Sossion Threatens Massive Demos Over Attacks On Teachers

The Kenya National Union of Teachers is running out of patience over the violence attacks
orchestrated against its members by students and members of the public saying the violence is rising at an alarming rate.
Writing on behalf of its members to the ministry of education and the Teachers Service Commission, the union asked the government to step in urgently and protect teachers across the country.
Just recently, a teacher in Nakuru County had his head smashed and was killed in cold blood by students who claimed he had confiscated their phone.
The union has warned the government that failure to heed to their calls will lead to massive nationwide demonstrations by the teachers. These demonstrations will effectively disrupt learning in both public and private schools.
Secretary General of Kenya National Union of Teachers and ODM nominated MP Wilson Sossion noted that over the past few years, hundreds of teachers have been subjected to violence and intimidation by learners whose parents and guardians have joined in on the mob justice.
He also said that the killing of Peter Omare of Hopewell Secondary School in Nakuru County has scared teachers deeply and the matter should be addressed with the seriousness it deserves.
