Salim Mvurya Betrayed By Jubilee As Oparanya Lands Top Job
The original plan was that Salim Mvurya would take over as chairman of the Council of Governors once the term of Governor Josephat Nanok ended but today Governor Wycliffe Oparanya rose to the helm of the powerful council.
The governor of Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya has been thrown under the bus by the ruling party Jubilee after the position that he was to have was given to another by way of voting.
Salim Mvurya had enough votes to topple the governor of Turkana County but it was mutually agreed that Josephat Nanok be left to finish his term.
Wycliffe Oparanya Elected As Chair Of Council Of Governors
Salim Mvurya risked his gubernatorial seat by supporting Jubilee Party in an opposition stronghold with the promise of the Council of Governors chairmanship.
The political realignments seemed to have worked against the soft spoken governor. The recent handshake by Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto's actions as he gears towards 2022 seem to be the main reason why Salim Mvurya was betrayed.
