BREAKING: ICC Releases Ex-Ivory Coast President Gbagbo

Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague have dropped all charges against Ex-Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo. They say the prosecution failed to prove the case against the man who was accused of connection to crimes against humanity.

The court had initially charged with crimes against humanity following a violent 2010 election that left 3,000 dead and 500,000 displaced in Ivory Coast.

He was arrested in 2011 in a presidential palace bunker by UN and French-backed forces supporting his rival, Alassane Ouattara. Gbagbo was the first president to be tried at the ICC.

Kenya also has a history with the ICC after 6 suspects were released from the court. Two of those later became the President and Deputy President of the East African nation.
