Sonko Lied? ODM Say They Didn't Nominate Deputy Governor Candidate

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), a key component of NASA now say that they did not nominate any candidate for Nairobi Deputy Governor. Last week, Mike Sonko said that he decided to postpone the announcement of the deputy governor until consultations were complete. Is NASA acting on its own? Or is this a ploy by the Nairobi County to delay the appointment of a deputy governor?

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko faced the press last week and said that he had received Rahab Wangui's name for consideration as his deputy. He claimed that the letter came from the National Super Alliance (NASA).

On 21st August, 2018, former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe resigned from his post. He said that he had failed to earn the trust of Mike Sonko.
Since then, Nairobi County has continued operations in the absence of a deputy governor. Is the position of deputy governor useless? Do counties really need a deputy governor?

ODM has since distanced itself from the letter, saying it does not want to be associated with the mess at City Hall.
