No Surprises As One Westgate Mall Suspect Released
There were no surprises as one suspect of the Westgate attack was released while three others remain in custody with the courts saying that they have a case to answer. Initially, the Government reported that all the assailants were killed during the invasion of the high end mall. Later, four suspects were arraigned in court for their involvement in the horrific attack that left over 70 dead.
The wheels of Kenyan justice grind slowly. After the attack, four suspected associates of the attackers – Hussein Hassan Mustafa, Mohammed Ahmed Abdi, Liban Abdullah Omar and Adan Mohammed Abdikadir were arrested and arraigned in court.
Today, Mr Adan was released while the rest have a case to answer.
Twitter users weighed in on the matter that reminds Kenyans of a dark day that they would rather forget.

the westgate mall attack was ridled with a lot of mystery. some people were quite naive with religion. it was crystal clear from the clips that were played. we will all die in ignorance.— Elijah Okemwa (@elijah1334) January 14, 2019

More than 5 years after #Westgate, we're yet to convict anyone for the crime. But we have learnt interesting things from the trial, chief among them being that GoK lied when it claimed all four attackers had been killed and their bodies handed over to the FBI. https://t.co/l620xESuQb
A good ride we were taken. The height of Jubilee govt incompetency. How they handled the Westgate terror attack is how they handle every affair of the state.— Brian Gikeri (@Briansbc7) January 14, 2019
