CS Matiang'i Says Operation At Riverside Almost Complete

The Cabinet Secretary in charge of security has said that the operation at Riverside Drive is almost complete and they have secured all buildings affected during the attack. He called it a well coordinated attack on the premises but did not specify the number of casualties.

The CS says that the response on the ground was swift and it involved a multi agency team  drawn from various government security apparatus.
The team was headed by the General Service Unit (GSU) commandant.
The CS confirmed that the security teams have secured all the buildings that were affected during the unfortunate event.
He confirmed that Red Cross and security teams evacuated scores of Kenyans and other nationalities that were trapped in the complex.

He says that the team is in the final stages of mopping up the area and securing evidence of the attack.
He reiterated that the country is now secure and that all Kenyans and all visitors safe.
CS Matiang'i said that he has regularly updated President Kenyatta of what is happening.

He further recognize support form the international community during this hard time and said that Kenya will stand up to terror in all its guises. He ended by saying that we remain strong as a country and will not surrender to terrorism.

It is still unknown how many assailants were at the area but CCTV footage shows at least four suspects accessing the area.
