God Bless This Great Nation: Telkom Weds Airtel Kenya

We missed the engagement party but it is now official that Airtel and Telkom Kenya are getting married. And of all the names in the world, they chose to be called Airtel-Telkom. Quite the mouthful,eh?

Existing and operating in the shadow of Safaricom for years now, Telkom Kenya and Airtel unit of Kenya announced a merger today.

Telkom shared the 'exciting' news on Twitter;

Airtel remained quiet probably still absorbing the shock of it all.

However, in a surprisingly creative move, the new company will be called Airtel-Telkom.

Just like Bread- Butter.

Zero creativity.

 Telkom Kenya (60 percent) is owned by the UK-based private equity firm Helios Investment Partners. The rest belongs to the Kenyan government which owns 40 percent.

The union hopes to replace Safaricom as the noisiest telco in Kenya.
