29 teachers will never step in any classroom in Kenya after the Teachers Service Commission found them guilty of sexual misconduct, insubordination, desertion of duty and negligence among other serious offenses.
The cases involving accused teachers were investigated within the period between mid last year to the end of the year. This ban brings the number of teachers banned last year alone to 151.
The chief executive officer of Teachers Service Commission said Nancy Macharia said that the ban was permanent and there would be no going back on the ban for those who had been found guilty of the various offenses.
It is notified for general information that pursuant to Sections 30 (4) and (5), 23 (2) of the Act: Where the name of a teacher is removed from the register, such a person shall not be reinstated except by direction of the commission.
The Teachers Service Commission has been on a house clearing offensive trying to bring the profession back to order.
It has taken many steps to rid the profession of drunkenness and sexual misconduct, serious offenses that have affected students in negative ways more than one.
